I Was Told To Join Cult, Engage In Ritual To ‘Blow’ – Phyno

Popular rapper Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike aka Phyno  has opened up on what he passed through before achieving fame.
According to him, during his wee days as a struggling artiste he was advised to join a cult or engage in ritual if he wished to succeed in his career.
He stated this while counselling up-and-coming artistes on ditch desperation and the so-called ‘easy’ road to success but to rather strive genuinely to attain it.
Following the death of MohBad and the controversies surrounding the unfortunate event, the discourse about artistes desperation for success, being signed to record labels that exploits and subjects them all forms of maltreatment when they attempt leaving has continued to gain waves online.
Ezege, as the rap star is also fondly called, advised young artistes to checkmate their thirst for quick success, be weary of signing with just any record label out of desperation regardless of their the terms and conditions which most times are unfavourable to the artistes.
He explained when some of these label bosses sense desperation in these young talents, they capitalise on it and take undue advantage of them; making them sign contracts that’ll be to their detriment one way or another.
“Some people look at us today and think we got it easy, Not at all”, said the Igbo rap act.

“Infact I’ve never loved easy things. Before many people heard of Phyno, I’ve had songs that no one knew exist.

“A couple of friends told me to blow, I must join a cult or sacrifice something or someone, I told him the price is too much. I’ll never do such.

“I believed in myself and the power of hard work, I started little and today I thank God.

“Young talents need to relax, do not be desperate about record deals or being on the spotlight. Keep working, when it’s time you’ll shine.

“Imagine begging a label to sign you, what kind of terms will they give you? They already know you are desperate and they will use you.

“At the beginning you might not see it but give it time, you’ll regret it. Nothing pays more than hard work and consistency.”

Nigeria Doesn’t Have World’s Best Women, Our Girls Lie – Ruger

Popular singer, Michael Adebayo Olayinka, aka Ruger has thrown a shade at Nigerian women.
He claimed that Nigerian women lie a lot and they are far from the best in the world.
According to him, any man who is well-travelled can attest to the fact.
He said this in a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos.

“I can say for sure, we [Nigerians] don’t have the best women in the world. Yes, that’s a fact. No man that has been around [the world] would just say that [Nigeria has the best women].

“We have good women but we don’t have the best. You think there are white women that don’t have ‘booties’? They lied to us actually that white girls don’t have booty. Hmm, you need to see. I have seen first hand,” he said.
The ‘Asiwaju’ crooner also said he would never perform with female fans on stage in Nigeria as he does abroad because “Nigerian girls are liars.”
He said, “Personally, I don’t think I would get any girl on stage in Nigeria. Because most people that were criticising me for dancing with female fans on stage at that time were Nigerians. I don’t want no problems man. I will just do my time and leave.

“Actually, I don’t want problems with Nigerians. My people are toxic. And most of the girls in Nigeria they are in relationships so I don’t want someone to come for me. Nigerian girls are liars actually.

Ondo Deputy Gov, Aiyedatiwa Seeks Court Order To Halt Impeachment Plans

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has requested a court order to halt the impeachment proceedings against him by the State House of Assembly

Aiyedatiwa, in suit No. AK/348/2023, filed at the High Court in Akure on Monday, is requesting the court to, among other things, stop the House of Assembly from impeaching him because it is not competent.

In a letter dated September 25, 2023, from the Chambers of Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) and Co. and delivered to the office of the Chief Judge of Ondo State, copies of the court processes were duly attached for the information of the Chief Judge.

Aiyedatiwa also sought orders of injunction to stop the House of Assembly from initiating, continuing, or proceeding with the process of his removal from office as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.

He is also praying the court stop the Chief Judge of Ondo State from accepting or acting upon any request from the House of Assembly of Ondo State to set up any panel to investigate any acts of gross misconduct against the Deputy Governor.

According to him, the impeachment move is in breach of his constitutional and fundamental rights to fair hearing and that the sacking of his media aides and subjecting him to the Ministry of Information headed by a Commissioner amounts to a breach of his rights and privileges as a Deputy Governor.

The Ondo deputy governor is also seeking a declaration that his office, tenure, status, rights and privileges are protected, guaranteed and secured by the Constitution, and the declaration that in the determination of his civil rights and obligations as a Deputy Governor of Ondo State by the House of Assembly, he is entitled to a fair hearing and that given the utterances and conduct of the House of Assembly so far, there is likelihood of bias against him in the impeachment process.

Aiyedatiwa accused the House Assembly of constituting itself into accuser, investigator, prosecutor and judge while berating them for conducting media trials against him without serving him with any notice of gross misconduct.

In the affidavit in support of the originating summons, it was stated that the House of Assembly embarked upon a media trial of the Deputy Governor purely to scandalize him and incite public opinion against him when indeed, no notice of acts of alleged gross misconduct was served on him.

Named as defendants in the suit filed by Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN, are the Ondo State Government, the Governor of Ondo State, Ondo State House of Assembly, the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, the Clerk of Ondo State House of Assembly and Chief Judge of Ondo State.

See the complete document below.

Strip Obasanjo of All Traditional Titles – Yoruba Group Tells Monarchs

Yoruba World Congress, a socio-cultural and pressure group of Yoruba descent has asked monarchs to strip former President Olusegun Obasanjo of all chieftaincy titles bestowed on him with immediate effect.
The group also mandated the traditional rulers to walk out of any event where he (Obasanjo) is present or has the power to use the microphone henceforth.
Recall that Obasanjo had on Friday, 15th September 2023 at an event in Iseyin, Oyo State commanded some traditional rulers to stand up and sit down.
Following public outcry, the former president was asked to publicly apologise to the traditional rulers.
YWC, has however advised the traditional rulers to strip the elder statesman of all the traditional titles bestowed on him without delay, over his failure to tender an apology.
The group in a statement signed by its Secretary General, Stephen Ajayi enjoined the traditional rulers not to honour any invitation not noble for the position they occupy and speak with one voice concerning the prestigious cultural heritage and the respect it deserves.
The group in the statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday, called on the National Assembly to enact a law for the creation of ministry for the traditional rulers.
“We in Yoruba World Congress Worldwide (YWC) established in the UK is by this open letter, reject and dissociate ourselves from the actions of Obasanjo and call for a revisit of the constitution as regards the traditional councils.

“We hereby call on the Federal House of Representatives and the Senate to as a matter of urgency create a Federal Ministry for the Traditional Rulers attached to the Presidency, to manage, secure and sustain our cultural values and heritage. This should have nothing to do with the State or ministries in the state so that our Royal Fathers can get back the respect they truly deserve.

“We have waited patiently for Olusegun Obasanjo’s sincere and remorseful public apology to the traditional rulers (our Obas/Kings) present at the event and to the Yoruba race as a whole for defying our cultural heritage in an embarrassing and inhuman manner publicly, which was never tendered. YWC hereby advice our Kabiyesis’ to:

“Walk out of any event that he (Obasanjo) is present or have the power to use the microphone. Not honour any invitation that is not noble for the position they occupy going forward.

“Speak with one voice concerning our prestigious cultural heritage and the respect it deserves.Strip Obasanjo off all Yoruba Chieftaincy titles bestowed on him with immediate effect”.

Lagos: Tribunal Dismisses APC’s Preliminary Objection Against PDP

A preliminary objection of the All Progressives Congress asking the Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal to dismiss the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party has been rejected.
The Tribunal rejected APC’s application for dismissal of PDP’s petition on Monday.

APC’s preliminary objection was dismissed because the petitioner did not comply with provisions of the Electoral Act about payment of security as to cost.
A member of the tribunal’s three-member panel, Justice Mikail Abdullahi, who read some preliminary motions challenging the competence of some aspects of the petition, dismissed the objection.
The Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, are challenging the victory of Sanwo-Olu at the March 18, 2023, governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress winner of the March 18 governorship election.
Sanwo-Olu had won the election by a landslide, defeating Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, who came second.
The Lagos State Governor polled 762,134 votes to beat Rhodes-Vivour, who scored 312,329 votes. Jide Adediran (Jandor) of the PDP came a distant third, polling 62,449 votes.
In the petition filed by Adediran and his party, PDP, the petitioners based the petition on two grounds, stating that the Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat were at the time of election not qualified to contest.
Adediran also stated that the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who was declared by the first respondent INEC as having scored the second highest number of votes was, at the time of the election also not qualified to contest.

While INEC is the first respondent, Sanwo-Olu; Hamzat, APC; Rhodes-Vivour, and the LP are listed as the second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth respondents respectively.
The PDP governorship candidate said he was calling for the disqualification of the All Progressives Congress and the Labour Party candidates in the election for “non-compliance” with the Electoral Act 2022 as well as the guidelines of INEC.
But the APC in their preliminary objection asked the Tribunal to strike out PDP’s petition, but the tribunal dismissed the objection.
Some of the Motion of the 2nd and 3rd Respondents to strike out some paragraphs of the Petition and additional statements on Oaths filed outside the 21 days provided by the electoral Act succeed in part.
Paragraphs 2,3,4,5, 6,7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 of the Petition were struck out. and the additional statement on oath that mirrors the struck-out paragraphs was also struck out.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party’s petition that its name be struck out from the PDP’s petition succeded.
