BREAKING: EFCC Fails To Produce Ex-CBN Gov, Emefiele In Court

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), failed to produce Godwin Emefiele, the embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), at the Abuja High Court on Monday, November 6.

Emefiele was not produced in court despite an order of a trial judge, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi for EFCC to produce him in court for hearing of his motion on fundamental rights enforcement.

Justice Adeniyi had last week ordered the anti-graft agency to release the former CBN governor unconditionally or produce him in court for the hearing of a motion determining his bail.

This follows his arrest by the EFCC shortly after his release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in late October.

The court has now adjourned till Wednesday, November 8 for a hearing of Emefiele’s motion on notice and for his counsel to provide additional documents.

It also restated its November 2 order for Emefiele’s unconditional release, or to produce him in court on Wednesday.

The former Anambra State governor added that the Supreme Court did not only exhibit a disturbing aversion to public opinion, it abandoned its responsibility as the court of law and policy.

“Highly permit me to make some few comments on the recent judgement of the Supreme Court, the highest court in Nigeria.

“As someone who has benefited from the ruling of the Supreme Court on an electoral matter, after a period of deep and sober reflection, I have decided to personally and formally react to the recent judgement as most Nigerians have.

“The cause we are confronted with are issues of national interest.

“Legal issues aside, the Supreme Court exhibited a disturbing aversion to public opinion, just as they abandoned its responsibility as the court of law and policy.

“It’s therefore with great despair that I observed that the decision of the court contradicts the overwhelming evidence of election rigging, false claim of technical glitch, substantial non-compliance to the rules set by INEC for itself, as well as a matter of perjury, identify theft and forgery that has been brought to life in the cause of election matter.

“These are hefty allegations that should not have been treated with levity.

“The Supreme Court judgement willfully condoned breaches of the constitution relative to established qualifications and prerequisites for candidates in presidential elections,” he said

Marry Someone That’s Not Moved By Twitter And Instagram Takes – Solomon Buchi

Popular Nigerian life coach and writer, Solomon Buchi has taken to ‘X’ to advise people intending to get married in this ‘hyper-digital era’.

According to him, people should make sure they marry someone that is not moved by Twitter and Instagram takes.

He also advised people to marry someone with real-life standards, because social media users are so unkind.

Posting via his X handle, Buchi wrote;

‘’If you must marry in this hyper digital era, marry someone that’s not moved by Twitter and Instagram takes.

My emphasis on this is deliberate.

Imagine marrying someone that will judge you through the lens of what demonic online in-laws say? Omo.

My wife and I have never fought over what Twitter people said about us. All the evil narratives, mischaracterizations and negative comments have never triggered an argument. Never.  She’s never acted out on what people said online, neither have I. And I’m grateful. But sometimes I think of marriages where couples take social media comments seriously.

Again, marry someone who has real-life standards, because social media users are so unkind.”

That judgment has since been delivered as scheduled.

“The leadership of the Labour Party has already pronounced its position on the judgment. As someone who has previously benefited from the rulings of the Supreme Court on electoral matters, I have, after a period of deep and sober reflection, decided to personally and formally react to the recent judgment as most Nigerians have. Because we are confronted with very weighty issues of national interest, I will speak forthrightly.”
