EFCC Hands Over $22,000 From Convicted Internet Fraudster To FBI

The EFCC in Lagos has delivered $22,000, which was reclaimed from a convicted cybercriminal, Hakeem Ayotunde Olanrewaju, to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

This was made known by the EFCC via its X handle on Saturday, May 18.

It reads: “Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos had, on August 15, 2023, ordered that the money recovered from Olanrewaju, who was sentenced to two years imprisonment for identity theft and impersonation, be restituted to his victim in the United States of America, U.S.A.

“Speaking during the handover ceremony in Lagos, the Acting Director, Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC, Michael T. Wetkas, reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication to combating crimes and restoring sanity to the nation.

“We are delighted to be handing over this proceeds of crime today.

“The EFCC is willing and always ready to do more.”

“Responding, the FBI Legal Attaché, Charles Smith, said: “The EFCC and FBI work collaboratively together, and it is thanks to the EFCC that we can recover funds of this nature, especially from Business email Compromise, BEC.

“This type of crime cripples businesses in the US, and for them to recover the money within one to two years gives hope to the affected companies and brings some level of justice, even if not all subjects have been identified.

“We hope our relationship continues and fosters a more cohesive partnership between the two agencies. If there’s anything the FBI can do to support this investigation, we will do so.

“We appreciate this on behalf of the FBI and thank the EFCC.”

“If you give a f*ck about what people think about you when you make it, then you didn’t learn shit in the come-up and will be back suffering in no time.”

“Worrying about what people think about you in your grinding phase and your made phase is a distraction.”

Mohbad Rejected His Son, Said He Only Slept With Wunmi Once’ – Dad Reveals

Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer, Illerioluwa Aloba, who was also known as Mohbad, has made a new claim.

He claimed that the late singer rejected his son, Liam, before his death.

Speaking in a clip captured from a recent social media making the rounds on X , he claimed his late son told him he only slept with Wunmi once before she brought Liam’s pregnancy to him.

Speaking in Yoruba, he said, “They shaved my late son’s hair before I got to his house. People saying my son didn’t reject Liam are lying. He said he only slept with Wunmi once and she brought pregnancy after their first s*x.”

Aloba has been clamouring for a DNA test to be conducted on Liam to ascertain his true paternity following the tragic death of the rapper.

Wunmi, who had previously expressed her willingness for a DNA test on her son, said she is no longer open to a DNA test on Liam.

She said only her late husband has the right to request a DNA test from her.

Wunmi claimed that Mohbad disvirgined her and he was the only man she had ever known.

E-Money And I Will Cater For Junior Pope’s Children Till They Grow Up – Kcee Vows

Popular Nigerian singer, Kcee has vowed that he and his brother, Emeka Okonkwo, also known as E-Money, will assume responsibility for the late Nollywood actor, Junior Pope’s children till they are old enough to cater for themselves.

He made the pledge at the actor’s funeral in Ukehe, Nsukka, Enugu State, on Friday.

Kcee said, “On behalf of my brother, E-Money and our friends, I want to say sorry to the family. Junior Pope is a blessing to this generation. He is somebody that we will never forget in this generation.

“My brother is the godfather of his first son. The friendship we have with Junior Pope has been for ages. When the unfortunate incident happened, my brother said to me that we were going to take up responsibility for his three sons till they were grown.

“But we can’t do that without the support of the family. So we are saying it openly to the family, we are ready to take care of the three kids to any level they want till they are grown to cater for themselves. We will take care of their education, feeding, clothing, and holidays.

We are not doing it to show off but to honour our friend’s dying wish for a better life for his children. And we took it upon ourselves that we are going to support this family to train these children.”

Recall that Junior Pope died on April 10, 2024, alongside three others after their boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State while returning from a film location.

Student Loan to Start With Federal Institutions — Nigerian Govt

The Federal Government has revealed where the student loan scheme will begin.
FG said the student loan scheme would be rolled out in phases, beginning with the federal institutions.

The Managing Director, Nigerian Education Loan Fund, Akintunde Swayerr, who made this disclosure in an interview with Arise Television on Friday said the student loan application portal will be opened on the 24th of May for loan applications.
He further said the government is currently “in the midst of a sensitization campaign to inform Nigerians how the scheme will work.”
Swayerr explained that the loan scheme seeks to bridge the financing gap for students in Nigeria, enabling them to become more resourceful, and eventually aiding the country.
“On the 3rd of April 2024, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed into law a monumental act that seeks to bridge the financing gap for applicants who want to get a higher education that is tertiary level.

“…and who wants to get vocational training to get proper qualifications that enables them to be more marketable and useful to the Nigerian society.

“The fund covers 100 percent of all the fees of tertiary institutions. There’s also upkeep for the student,” he said.
Swayerr noted that this plan will be rolled out in schemes, the first being the public institutions because of the large number of students in that sector requiring financial aid.
“We’re going to roll this plan out in phases. The first phase will be with federal institutions then to others. It’s going to be the public sector at the beginning because that’s where we find the bulk of students who perhaps need the financing cover and are most vulnerable.

“We have a system that hopefully makes this have a national spread and some degree of equal opportunities for those who have the desire, capacity, eligibility to engage in this scheme,” he said.

Wizkid Does Not Release Most of His Features With Nigerian Artists – Slimcase

Nigerian singer, Slimcase has opened up on why Wizkid doesn’t release most of the songs he collaborated with other musicians in Nigeria.
Explaining why, Slimcase stated that Wizkid listens to songs about 50 times to know if they meet his standards before dropping them.
He stated that most artists’ collaborations with Wizkid ended up not making it out of the studio because they didn’t meet his standards.
Speaking in a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos, Slimcase said, “When you make music with Wizkid, he will let you do your thing without any scrutiny, then in your absence, he can listen to the song like 50 times to know if the song meets his standard. That is why you see artists in the studio with Wizkid and the song never drops.”
Slimcase collaborated with Wizkid on a song titled ‘Gucci Snake’ in 2018.
Recall that singer BNXN recently called out Wizkid for hoarding collaborations with young artists.
He lamented that Wizkid collaborates with young artists year in, year out but most of the songs have never made it out of the studio.
