2026 WCQ: They Thought It Was Done – Rohr Mocks Super Eagles After Benin Defeat

The head coach of Benin Republic, Gernot Rohr has mocked Nigeria after the Super Eagles lost to their Republic of Benin counterpart.
The Super Eagles lost 2-1 win in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Monday.
Reacting, Rohr slammed the mentality of Super Eagles players.
Nigeria had taken the lead in Abidjan, thanks to Raphael Onyedika’s first goal for his country.
But they fell apart and conceded twice in the space of twelve minutes.
It was Benin’s first-ever victory against Nigeria, and Rohr, who coached the Eagles between 2016 and 2021, pointed out their lapse in concentration.
“We had the right organization, Nigeria scored the first goal, perhaps, they believed it was already done.

“But the reaction, the desire of my team was so strong that they could come back to win the match,” Rohr said, per Favour Itua.

Rapper Nicki Minaj Sparks Divorce Rumors After Posting Cryptic ‘Single’ Tweet

American rapper/songwriter, Nicki Minaj has stirred divorce rumors after posting a tweet about being single.

The 42-year-old who wed high school sweetheart, Kenneth Petty in 2019,  took to the X platform on Monday to share the cryptic tweet ‘yes single.’

The tweet made fans question whether the rapper was addressing her relationship status or hinting at new music.

‘So are we getting a new single or are you single,‘ one fan asked, as another shared: ‘We love you no matter what, idc if you’re single or dropping a new single.’

Yet another congratulated Nicki on her apparent self-promotion tactic, posting, ‘Dear rap girlies , this is how you pull a PR stunt. literally two words and she ate.’

The post comes after her husband Kenneth petitioned a court to approve him leaving the U.S. in April, as he remains on probation for his 2021 conviction of failing to register as a s3x offender.

Petty, 46, stated in court documents reviewed by TMZ that it’s crucial for him to join Nicki on her European Pink Friday 2 tour to accompany their three-year-old son.

The probation officer overseeing Petty’s case, stemming initially from his first-degree attempted r*pe conviction in April 1995, ‘hasn’t raised any objections to his travel request,’ the outlet reported, citing court docs.

Petty made headlines last September when he received a 120-day house arrest sentence for violating probation after posting social media clips containing aggressive messages towards Migos rapper Offset.

Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George has opened up on why his side lost 2-1 to Benin Republic.
The super eagles had yesterday suffered the loss during its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria remain in fifth position in the Group C table with three points from four games.
It was the second time the Cheetahs would beat the Super Eagles in 17 meetings.
Gernot Rohr’s men top the standings with seven points.
“We scored a good goal and after that we lost concentration, they got their equaliser and then they got their momentum,” Finidi said during his interaction with media after the game.

“We didn’t defend well the long kick from the goalkeeper and they got their first goal.

“We had control of the game, but we didn’t defend well.

“If you don’t take your chances and don’t defend well in a World Cup qualifier, you pay for it.

“First half was good but for the goals (we conceded), while in the second half we pushed and defended well.”

Cotonou, the capital of neighbouring Republic of Benin erupted in joy following the shock 2-1 win over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their 2026 FIFA world Cup qualifier at the Felix Houphouët Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

“This  was a real miracle,” Beninese foremost journalist, Elvis Dedjinou Zanclan , told NationSport after the match.“Two games won successively, first again Rwanda and  now, the super Eagles; this is unbelievable.”

Burna Boy Has Done More For Nigeria Than Our Ambassadors – Alibaba

Comedian Alibaba has lavished Afrobeat artist Burna Boy with praise.
He stated that the singer is one of the greatest ambassadors of the country.

In an interview with Channels Television, Alibaba expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s economic planning management of the entertainment business.

He referenced a projection by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group that specifically excluded the creative industry, emphasizing its importance to the country’s economic and cultural identity.
“Two years ago, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group looked into a forecast of the Nigerian economy in the next five years, and the entertainment and creative industry was not considered,” Alibaba said.
A booklet of about 200 pages was done and the creative industry was not considered. The value of the creative industry in Nigeria is beyond the country.
Alibaba emphasized Burna Boy’s value, claiming that the artist had done more to promote Nigeria on a global scale than any ambassador sent to international postings.
He complimented Nigerian musicians for their critical role in defining and disseminating the country’s cultural identity worldwide.
“Burna Boy has done a lot more for Nigerian national awareness than any ambassador that has been posted to America, the UK, or any other place. So Nigerian artistes are creating national awareness and making other countries know about us than any ambassador would have done,” he added.
