Please Let’s Bury Mohbad – Nigerian Artiste, Primeboy Calls For Release Of Late Singer’s Corpse

Nigerian singer Owodunni Ibrahim, popularly known as Primeboy, has made a heartfelt public plea for his close associate, the late Mohbad (born Ilerioluwa Aloba), to be buried nearly three years after his passing.

Recall that Mohbad d!ed in controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023 and has remained in the mortuary since then.

He was initially laid to rest on September 13, 2023, but was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy to be carried out on him and has remained in the morgue since then.

The father of the deceased, Joseph Aloba, has insisted that the singer’s remains will not be laid to rest until a DNA test is conducted to ascertain the true paternity of Liam, the only child the singer left behind with his wife, Omawunmi.

In a viral video, Primeboy called on Mohbad’s family, the public, and the government to ensure the remains of the singer are laid to rest.

He said, “It’s been almost three years since Mohbad left us. His body is still in the mortuary. I’m begging the family, I’m begging the public, I’m begging the government, please let’s bury our brother. He deserves a befitting burial.”

Meanwhile, an Ikorodu High Court has ordered three separate DNA tests to be conducted abroad to determine the paternity of Liam.

The court gave the new directive after earlier plans to conduct a DNA test stalled, causing delays in resolving the disagreement between Mohbad’s family and his widow.

Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, appeared in court with his lawyer, Oladayo Ogungbe, who explained that the initial court-approved process could not proceed due to issues regarding the suitability of the testing centre.

Ogungbe told the court that a fresh arrangement had been made to avoid further disputes and to ensure trust in the outcome.

Nigerian Singer, Burna Boy Reveals He Has Converted To Islam, Shares View About Creation (Videos)

Burna Boy, the world-famous, Nigerian Grammy Award–winning Afrofusion artist, has embraced Islam.

The claim of Burna Boy’s conversion to Islam had surfaced on social media earlier, sparking widespread reactions and debate among fans and followers of the award-winning artist.

The conversation began after Nigerian socialite and fashion enthusiast, Rahman Jago, shared a video of Burna Boy on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), in which the singer was heard saying “Alhamdulillah,” an Arabic phrase commonly used by Muslims meaning “Praise be to God.”

The short clip quickly gained traction online, with many users questioning whether the frequent use of Islamic expressions by the singer signified a formal change of faith.

Some fans noted that Burna Boy had, on several occasions, used Arabic phrases in his songs and public appearances, fuelling speculation that he may have embraced Islam privately.

Amid the growing curiosity, former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad weighed in on the issue after being asked about the development on 𝕏.

Responding to an inquiry, Ahmad wrote, “Some people close to him said he converted to Islam, but there has been no official confirmation directly from him yet.”

His response appeared to suggest that while there were claims from associates of the artiste, there had been no public declaration from Burna Boy himself.

However, Rahman Jago later entered the online discussion again, making a categorical statement about the singer’s faith.

“He converted. He is now a Muslim,” Jago wrote.

Burna Boy confirmed his conversion to Islam from Christianity on Plaueboymax’s livestream where he shared his view about the creation.

The development has continued to generate mixed reactions, with some congratulating the artiste, while others have urged his view about creation.

Reactions Trail Nigerian Monarch’s Call For Nnamdi Kanu’s Freedom

Last week, at a health summit for traditional and religious leaders held inside the Presidential Villa, a traditional ruler from Enugu State, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu, confronted Bola Ahmed Tinubu, demanding that he either release the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, unconditionally or deport him to Kenya.

Igwe Agubuzu made the demand when he was given the opportunity to address the gathering.

The demand was widely viewed as courageous, especially when many political leaders, who were supposed to have led such campaigns, have all remained silent out of fear.

While Agubuzu was speaking about Kanu’s ordeal and the similarity of his case with that of the Yoruba self determination agitator, Sunday Igboho, President Tinubu, who never envisaged such demand coming at that point was seen laughing hysterically.

However, Igwe Agubuzu’s demand has continued to elicit commendation and applause from Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.

Three Igbo advocacy groups based in the United States, including the American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID), Ambassadors for Self-Determination (ASD) and Rising Sun Foundation (RSF), in a statement, have thrown their weight behind the call and praised the Enugu monarch for telling President Tinubu what many have failed to tell him.

A statement jointly signed by Dr. Sylvester Onyia, AVID, Chief Evans Nwankwo, ASD and Dr. Maxwell Dede, said: “We unequivocally commend His Royal Majesty, Eze Agubuzu of Enugu for his unflinching courage in telling President Bola Tinubu what other Igbo traditional rulers have been too weak, too compromised or too cowardly to say: Release Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu immediately or return him to Kenya.

“Let it be known that Eze Agubuzu and Eze Chukwuemeka Eri are currently the only monarchs who have publicly understood the depth of the pain, injustice and anguish inflicted upon our people by Kanu’s illegal detention.

“While Fulani herder murderers are pampered, Yoruba agitators walk free and the Nigerian state continues to show contempt for Igbo humanity, the majority of Igbo kings and chiefs, including the Obi of Onitsha and Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, remain silent. Their silence is complicity; their inaction is betrayal.

“We ask plainly: What are the titles and crowns of these so-called leaders worth if they cannot stand for the lives, liberty and dignity of their own people? AlaIgbo cannot survive leaders who place personal comfort above collective justice.”

The groups called on all the Igbo traditional rulers to abandon cowardice and complicity, and speak with one voice, stressing that the time for half-measures, whispers and veiled statements was over.

“Step up boldly for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or step aside and make room for leaders who will. History will not forgive those who chose silence while our people suffered injustice,”the statement added.

The groups commended Agubuzu’s courage, saying he demonstrated that moral authority, not fear of Abuja, is what preserves a people’s dignity.

Similarly, a lecturer at the Michael OKpara University, Umudike, Imo State, Prof. Leo Obinna, has described Igwe Agubuzor as a bold and courageous monarch, whose thought aligns with the majority of the Igbo.

“We want President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally. Igwe Agubuzor is a bold and courageous monarch. All he told the president is our thought.

“Not many leaders will speak the way he did. I have my kudos for him, he has my respect.

“Sunday Igboho committed the same acclaimed offence as Kanu. Igboho has been pardoned and we hear that the Ooni of Ife is trying to confer on him one of the highest honour in Yoruba land but our own Kanu is languishing in prison,” he said. He said if it were to be in other climes where justice and fairness rule supreme, Kanu would have been released.

Welcoming the call by Igwe Agubuzor for Kanu’s, a lawyer, Godwin Chinonye, emphasised that the IPOB leader did not do anything.

“The traditional ruler was very correct in what he said. In other regions, people like Kanu were released. Indeed, I am commending the traditional for what he said,” he noted.

An Umuahia-based lawyer, Okezie Ohajuruka, expressed his love with Agubuzu’s statement, describing the monarch as “the type of leader the Igbo need at this point in time; people who will speak truth to power.”

Former President General of Kanu’s community, Afaraukwu, Umuahia, Ikechukwu Ndubueze, also commended Igwe Agubuzu for telling the President the truth to his face.

He said the IPOB leader should have long been released if he were from another tribe and called on other Igbo leaders to speak out to get their son released.

“I don’t think if Kanu were to be a Yoruba or Fulani man, he would still be in prison. But because he is an Igbo man, they would want him to die in prison,” he said.

Many Popular ‘Wealthy’ Nigerians Are Living In Debt Despite Lavish Public Lifestyle – Ibukun Awosika Reveals

Ibukun Awosika, a former Chairperson of First Bank of Nigeria, who is renowned for her work on entrepreneurship, leadership, and financial literacy, has stated that many high-profile and wealthy Nigerians are heavily in debt despite their extravagant public lifestyles.

The businesswoman made this known while speaking during a preaching engagement on the realities of wealth and financial discipline.

According to Awosika, many families of prominent and wealthy Nigerians are unaware of their financial status until after their demise.

She disclosed that appearances often mask the true financial status of some high-profile individuals.

She said, “I was chairman of a very popular bank, and you would be shocked if I told you that many wealthy Nigerians, very big names, are living in debt while maintaining a lavish public lifestyle.

“Until they die, their families often don’t even know the true state of their finances and how broke they’re.”

Speaking about her own financial journey, Awosika revealed that for over a decade, she had earned more than her husband while he diligently built his career in the public sector.

She explained that rather than allowing the income gap to create friction, they chose to view it as a foundation for mutual growth and teamwork.

She urged couples, especially women, not to let money become a source of conflict in marriage, describing it as a tool for building and growing together.

She added, “So when I say do not make money an issue in your home, I mean it.

“Money is a tool. Use it to achieve things together, whether it comes from the man or the woman. One plus one is one. It is not mathematics.”

We Will Neither Bow Nor Retreat – ADC Declares After Attack On Peter Obi In Edo

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called the attack on its leaders, including former presidential candidate Peter Obi, in Edo State a “grave and disturbing development,” suggesting a connection to a prior warning allegedly issued by the state governor.

In a statement released on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the attack did not occur in isolation but followed threats allegedly made last year, cautioning Obi against visiting Edo State.

The ADC said the development was alarming, especially given the political climate preceding it.

“Today’s attack on Mr Peter Obi and other leaders of the African Democratic Congress is a grave and disturbing development, especially in light of the threats issued last year by the Governor of Edo State, warning Mr Obi not to come to Edo State,” the statement read.

The party added that while it initially considered the warning as political rhetoric, it never imagined it could escalate into what it described as a possible assassination attempt.

“We did not anticipate at the time that the alleged threat could include an assassination plot,” the statement added.

Condemning the incident, the ADC said violence and intimidation had no place in a democratic society, noting that such tactics are often employed by those who fear the electorate.

“Violence and intimidation are the weapons of those who fear the will of the people. Such actions stain our democracy and must be condemned by all who believe in freedom,”Abdullahi said.

The party insisted that the alleged attack undermines democratic values and threatens the fundamental freedoms of citizens and opposition figures.

Reaffirming its commitment to peaceful political engagement, the ADC declared that it would not be cowed by threats or acts of violence.

“The ADC will neither bow nor retreat. We will stand firm, speak without fear, and continue the peaceful struggle for a Nigeria where the opposition is not punished and every citizen is free,” the statement added.

Earlier, Obi’s former campaign spokesman and National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, raised the alarm over the incident.

Tanko alleged that Obi, a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, and other ADC chieftains were attacked by suspected thugs in Edo State.

According to him, the attack occurred during the formal declaration of Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the last Edo election, into the ADC.

Tanko alleged that armed men trailed the party leaders from the ADC Secretariat to the residence of Oyegun.

“They shot at the gate and destroyed several vehicles in what appears to be a successful assassination attempt on our lives. Democracy is in danger,” he said.

The incident has further heightened political tension in the state, with the ADC warning that any attempt to intimidate opposition figures would only deepen concerns about the safety of democratic participation in Nigeria.
