Nigerian Singer, Slimcase Speaks Up, Calls For Preservation Of Afrobeats Culture (Video)

Music star Otunba Lamba, popularly known as Slimcase, has called on Afrobeats artists to stay authentic and true to the genre’s roots, highlighting the importance of preserving the culture of street music.

Speaking on The Link Up show, Slimcase stressed the importance of cultural awareness and artistic influence in shaping the sound and identity of Afrobeats.

“Every Afrobeats artist that hasn’t seen Sina by Michael B. Jordan isn’t a real Afrobeats artist,” he said, highlighting the impact of creative inspiration on the evolution of the genre.

He further cautioned that the global push for recognition could erode the originality of Afrobeats if artists lose touch with its foundational energy.

“The moment you want to club, you want to possess everybody, and then they lose the club. That is what happened to Afrobeats,”Slimcase said.

PUNCH Online had earlier reported on Tuesday that the NYSC announced the release of call-up numbers for the 2025 Batch C prospective corps members.

The scheme confirmed this on its official X handle on Tuesday, stating: “The NYSC management is pleased to announce that call-up numbers for 2025 Batch C Prospective Corps Members have been released, based on registration order.”

Regina’s Mother Brought Her to Me, I Never Went After Her – Ned Nwoko

The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Ned Nwoko has made a shocking claim.
According to him, he never went after his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels for marriage.
Ned made the disclosure while reacting to the controversy and criticism trailing his 6-year marriage to Regina.
Recall that Regina had two weeks ago called out Ned Nwoko over alleged domestic violence, saying she was no longer interested in a marriage with him.
In response, Ned accused Regina of substance abuse, and insisted that the actress must go to the rehabilitation center.
The public exchange sparked controversy with many Nigerians including celebrities criticising Senator Ned for allegedly marrying Regina at 17-year-old, when she was still a minor. And called for his resignation from the Senate.
Addressing the controversy in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN by his Communication and Technical Action Team, the Senator also claimed that Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita brought her to him for marriage.
Denying marrying Regina at 17, Ned Nwoko, who noted that he never went after her for marriage, stated that he has witnesses that her mother brought her to him.
“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born October 10, 2000. If she has been married to me for 6 years, that means she married at 19 and not 17. The public witnessed her family giving her away in marriage.

“There were witnesses to the fact that her mother personally brought her to me. I never went after her”.

Only In Disgraced Country – Peter Obi Slams Govt Over Unpaid Super Eagles Allowances

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has slammed the Federal Government over reports that the Super Eagles are being owed allowances, calling the situation a reflection of a “now disgraced nation.”

Obi’s reaction follows concerns raised by Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, who shared a video showing the reportedly poor state of the team’s accommodation in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon.

In a statement on Tuesday via X, Obi said it was “truly unfortunate” that players who “consistently give their best in representing our dear nation” are being owed their entitlements, even as the government continues to spend lavishly on “needless political patronage.”

He lamented that the neglect of national athletes sends the wrong message to Nigerian youth, adding that those who serve the country “deserve to be paid promptly and treated with respect.”

Obi urged authorities to “do better” and prioritise the welfare of the nation’s representatives.

He said: “It is truly unfortunate that our Super Eagles who consistently give their best in representing our dear nation, are being owed their allowances.

“We always seem to find money to waste on needless lavish spending and political patronage, yet we cannot pay those who patriotically raise our flag, bring us pride, and serve with dedication. That is what is found in a “now disgraced country”.

“When those who serve their country are not treated with dignity, it sends the wrong message to our youth, that hard work and service are not rewarded. Those who represent Nigeria deserves to be paid promptly and treated with respect. We must do better”.

Nigeria vs Gabon: Mikel Obi Lists Three Things Super Eagles Must Do

Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has outlined three key things Eric Chelle’s team must do when they face Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff on Thursday in Morocco.

Obi Mikel urged the Super Eagles to approach their match against Gabon with confidence, bravery, and passion, adding that they should be proud to wear the green and white colors of Nigeria.

The winner of the encounter between Nigeria and Gabon will face the winner between Cameroon and DR Congo in the playoff final on Sunday.

“Go in the game, play as we should, with full confidence, bravery, and passion, knowing you’re wearing the green white green, the badge of that green white green is huge,” Obi Mikel, a former Chelsea midfielder, said on the Obi One Podcast Channel.

“300 million people, that is a lot of pressure, but you have to deal with it. I know they can do it, and I believe in them.”

Nigeria heads to the game after defeating the Benin Republic in their last game, while Gabon won against Burundi.
