Carter Efe’s Twitch Account Suspended Days After Becoming Africa’s Most-Followed Streamer

Popular Nigerian comedian Carter Efe’s Twitch account has been temporarily suspended, just days after his record-breaking livestream with Afrobeats star Davido.

The livestream, which took place on December 17, 2025, garnered significant attention online and enabled Carter Efe to become Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer, with over 405,000 followers.

The comedian announced on Monday that Twitch had placed a four-month suspension on his account, citing violations of its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

However, no specific details were provided regarding the alleged infractions.

The development comes shortly after Carter Efe surpassed fellow Nigerian content creators, including Shank Comics, and recorded one of the most-watched livestreams on the platform with Davido.

Following the announcement, fans and supporters flooded his social media pages with messages of solidarity, describing him as a “joy giver” and urging Twitch to review the decision.

While speculation has emerged online suggesting the suspension may have resulted from mass reporting linked to comments or antics during the livestream, reports of additional bans on other platforms were dismissed as false.

The suspension has sparked disappointment among fans, particularly as it comes during the festive season, with many calling for a swift resolution.

Nigerian Content Creator, Nons Miraj Speaks On Why She Dropped Her ‘Ada Jesus’ Character

Chinonso Ukah, the Nigerian content creator and entertainer popularly known as Nons Miraj, has explained why she chose to step away from the Ada Jesus character that initially brought her widespread recognition.

In a podcast with Taymesan, the skitmaker explained that while the character helped her gain popularity, it eventually restricted how people saw her.

Nons Miraj said she felt the need to evolve and show a different side of herself.

She noticed that the Ada Jesus persona attracted a certain type of audience that no longer matched her goals.

She wanted to reach a broader group and create content that reflected more aspects of her personality.

The entertainer also aimed to attract new connections in her personal life, hoping to meet people who appreciated her beyond the comedy skits.

“After the whole Ada Jesus thing, I was like, ‘What do I do again?’ because people will get tired of you turning people into yam and fish. I got tired, people were thinking I was old. My followers became old men, and I said I need to do something that will make them see all this fineness,”
she said.

“Men were attracted to the Ada Jesus character, but older men. I needed the fine bad boy to enter my DM, spend money on me, and let’s see if we can have a relationship.”

The decision to move on was also part of her effort to grow her brand and explore projects beyond the character that made her famous.

Nons Miraj, who hosts The Hunt Game Show, has built a reputation in comedy, acting, and digital content creation.

Her Ada Jesus skits were widely known for their humour and memorable performances.

She discussed the pressures of being in the public eye, saying that people often focus on large deals without understanding the responsibilities that come with them.

Nons Miraj revealed that her work required investing in projects and managing personal commitments, which can be challenging despite outward appearances of success.

The entertainer also mentioned changes in her personal relationships.

Some friendships shifted due to expectations and feelings of entitlement, leading her to distance herself from certain friends.

She explained that while she values her friends, she realized she needed to set boundaries to protect her energy.

No Changes To Tax Laws, Only One Version Exists – FG Insists

The Federal Government has maintained that there is only one genuine version of the newly enacted tax reform laws.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this on Monday in Abuja at the end-of-year news conference.

Idris dismissed claims that the tax laws had been altered after being passed by the National Assembly, stressing that the version assented to by President Bola Tinubu remains intact.

He said the laws followed due legislative process, including consultations and debates at the National Assembly, before receiving presidential assent.

“The Federal Government is going ahead with the commencement of implementation, noting as changed,” Idris said.

The minister explained that concerns over alleged discrepancies between the version passed by lawmakers and the one gazetted had been raised at the National Assembly, adding that the executive would rely on the outcome of the legislature’s review.

“I think it is important for us to wait for the National Assembly to look at this again to tell us whether there were discrepancies or not,”
he said.

“This is, at this point, an affair of the National Assembly to which I have no jurisdiction, and I have no authority to speak about. As far as the government of Nigeria is concerned, there’s only one version of that tax document.”

The controversy followed claims by a lawmaker representing Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, Abdussamad Dasuki, who raised the alarm in the House of Representatives over alleged alterations to the tax reform laws.

Dasuki alleged that the version of the laws passed by the National Assembly differed from the one later gazetted and circulated by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Information.

PUNCH Online reports that the tax reform laws, scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2026, were recently signed into law by President Tinubu.

The bills, however, faced stiff opposition during legislative consideration, particularly from some northern lawmakers, amid concerns over their economic and regional implications.

The controversy deepened after Dasuki claimed that some provisions contained in the gazetted laws were neither debated nor approved by lawmakers.

The tax laws have also attracted criticism from prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, both of whom have called for the suspension of their implementation pending clarification of the disputed provisions.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, has also dismissed claims of secret alterations, warning of the consequences Nigerians could face if the new tax laws are not implemented from January 1.

FG Finally Delivers Housing Promise To AFCON Silver-Winning Super Eagles In Morocco (Video)

The Federal Government has fulfilled its promise to reward members of the Super Eagles squad that finished runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, awarding each player a house nearly two years after the pledge was made.

The presentation was carried out on Monday in Fez, Morocco, through the National Sports Commission (NSC), coming barely 24 hours before Nigeria’s opening match at the 2025 AFCON.

The Super Eagles, then led by Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro, finished second at the 2023 tournament held between January and February 2024 after a 2-1 defeat to hosts Côte d’Ivoire in the final.

Following the team’s return to Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu honoured players and officials with national awards under the Member of the Order of the Niger, alongside pledges of housing and land gifts for members of the squad and backroom staff.

That housing commitment was formally fulfilled at the team’s Moroccan base on Monday as the Super Eagles prepare to begin their quest for a fourth continental crown with a Group C clash against Tanzania on Tuesday.

“The Federal Government, through the NSC, has fulfilled its 2024 pledge on housing rewards to the Super Eagles,” the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, confirmed via a WhatsApp group dedicated to media updates.

Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, alongside Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Musa Gusau and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Abdul Ningi, also confirmed that the national honours were issued as MON or OON in line with existing awards already held by players.

They added that the housing and land grants approved by President Tinubu have been fully processed, with Certificates of Occupancy issued.

Now under Franco-Malian coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles are back on continental duty in Morocco, carrying the burden of expectation after narrowly missing out on qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The three-time African champions are drawn in Group C and will face Tunisia on Saturday after their opener against Tanzania, before rounding off the group stage against Uganda next Tuesday.

Fuji Legend, KWAM1 Loses Bid To Block Awujale Selection Process

The Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode on Monday declined to grant popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, also known as KWAM1, an interim injunction seeking to stop Governor Dapo Abiodun and five others from continuing with the selection and installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

Ayinde, represented in court by Wahab Shittu (SAN), had sought the injunction pending the hearing of his substantive suit challenging the selection process.

But  Justice A. A. Omoniyi dismissed the application, holding that the interim injunction lacked merit and that there were no strong grounds to justify its grant.

He subsequently ordered the expedited hearing of the substantive matter, fixing 14 January 2026 for proceedings.
KWAM1 had declared his interest in the vacant Awujale stool, claiming lineage from the Jadiara Royal House of the wider Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

However, the Fusengbuwa ruling house rejected his claim, stating that he is not from the royal house.

To challenge what he perceived as injustice, Ayinde filed a suit against the Fusengbuwa ruling house, Governor Abiodun, the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Dare Alebiosu, and three others.

The other respondents include the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat; Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Oke Adebanjo; and the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, Dr Olorogun Sunny Kuku.

The suit, HC3/238/2025, was filed ex parte, citing Order 38 Rules 4 and Order 39 Rule 1 of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2024, Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution, and the court’s inherent jurisdiction

A copy of the court document dated 16 December 2025 was obtained by our correspondent.

Ayinde urged the court to restrain all respondents from further action on the Awujale selection process to protect his interest and preserve the res from being dissipated or interfered with.

He prayed the court to restrain the respondents, “their agents, or anyone acting on their behalf, from taking any steps in the installation process of the next Awujale of Ijebuland pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.”

The musician said he is an aspirant to the Awujale stool, “and the injunction is necessary to secure his interest and preserve the res from being dissipated or interfered with by the respondents.”

With the interim injunction denied, attention now turns to the substantive hearing

scheduled for 14 January 2026, which will determine the fate of KWAM1’s claim to the Awujale stool.

Nigerian Man K!lls His Own Cousin Over ₦1,000 Burial Refund In Delta State

A sweet family gathering in Delta State ended in tragedy after a 47-year-old man allegedly killed his first cousin during a heated dispute over the refund of a ₦1,000 contribution.

The incident, which occurred on December 12, 2025, in Ughelli South, was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Edafe Bright, in a video shared on X on Monday.

According to Edafe, the family had recently returned from the burial of a relative and convened a meeting.

The atmosphere, however, soured when a dispute broke out regarding a ₦1,000 contribution refund.

“This young man was dragging and bringing all down fire and brimstone that they must give him back his 1,000,” Edafe said.

He continued, “In the process of dragging, he started fighting. Somewhere along the line, according to him, while he was trying to wriggle his way out of the fight, he used his hand to hit one of the brothers, a relative of his, who eventually died.

“Now, N1,000 argument has led to the death of a family member. He was being cautioned even by this very guy who eventually passed.

“The spirit that possessed him, according to him, would not allow him to listen to the voice of wisdom. The man who died is 42 years. Somebody has died just because of N1,000.”

The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Ezekiel, expressed remorse while speaking and claimed that the death was accidental.

He admitted that several relatives, including the deceased, had pleaded with him to calm down.

“It was by mistake. I didn’t know when I hit him,” he said.

Ezekiel explained that the ₦1,000 in question was a contribution made for the burial rites, which is traditionally refunded to the owner after the ceremony.

“After everything, they always shared it. That’s how we return the money to the owner,”
he stated.

Edafe used the tragic incident to urge the public to exercise emotional restraint even in the face of minor provocations.

“Mine is to talk to our listeners to understand the importance of controlling your temper. You have to calm down. Any form of fighting could lead to death. It can turn into manslaughter. It could turn to murder. Please, a word they say is enough for the wise. Prevention is better than cure,”
Edafe concluded.

How Jay Jay Okocha Reacted After Being Asked To Compare Current Super Eagles Squad To The 1996 Olympic Winning Team (Video)

Legendary Nigerian midfielder Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has delivered a harsh critique of the current Super Eagles squad, insisting they would not measure up to the iconic team that won Olympic gold in 1996.

Okocha, a central figure in that famous side, spoke with unmistakable confidence when asked to compare the present national team with the celebrated Dream Team that conquered the football world at the Atlanta Olympics.

The 1996 squad is widely regarded as one of the finest collections of talent Nigeria has ever assembled. That generation featured a glittering list of stars, including Sunday Oliseh, Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba and Nwankwo Kanu, players whose influence shaped Nigerian football for years.

Their Olympic triumph remains a landmark moment in African football history. Nigeria defeated global giants Brazil and Argentina on their way to winning Africa’s first Olympic gold medal in football. The dramatic semi-final victory over Brazil still lives vividly in the memories of Nigerian fans.

In his recent remarks, Okocha dismissed any suggestion that the current Super Eagles could compete with his generation if both teams were at their peak.

“They stand no chance. It’s the number of goals that they will concede we should be talking about,” Okocha said.

“These are small boys. We are talking about Yekini, Oliseh, Nwankwo Kanu, Taribo West I don’t even want to talk about myself. These boys are learners.”

The present Super Eagles squad is not short of quality. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen remains one of the most feared forwards in world football, while Ademola Lookman recently claimed the African Player of the Year award organised by the Confederation of African Football. The team also includes established names such as Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Samuel Chukwueze and Ola Aina.

However, Okocha’s criticism goes beyond individual talent and points to achievements on the biggest stages. Members of the 1996 Olympic team were part of Nigeria’s first appearance at the FIFA World Cup in 1994 and also lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in the same year.

By comparison, the current Super Eagles have struggled in recent World Cup qualification campaigns and are still chasing continental glory. Despite finishing close on a few occasions, an AFCON title has continued to elude them.

Attention now turns to the next Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Eagles will hope to silence critics and carve out an identity capable of standing alongside Nigeria’s golden generation.
