Popular Nigerian singer, Ruger has claimed that Burna Boy, his Grammy-winning colleague, introduced the live band into Afrobeats performance.
According to him, before Burna Boy started using live band, most Afrobeats artistes perform with DJ sets on stage.
He argued that Burna Boy made live performance “enjoyable.”
Speaking in a recent chat with Billboard alongside BNXN, Ruger said: “Before Burna Boy started this live band thing most Afrobeats Act would just go on stage with their DJs and bounce, Burna boy makes live performance enjoyable.
“I don’t care if they give Burna Boy his flowers or not, but we the youngins from Nigeria know what he has done.”
He further stated that he was at a point in his life when he was actively seeking for love and did not want to be toxic anymore.
After sharing an Instagram photo together, Nigerian artists Ruger and BNXN shocked their followers.
The Afrobeats artists seem to have patched things up as they make a suggestion about possible future projects together.
Recent events indicate that Ruger—who abruptly departed from his record company, Jonzing World—shared a picture of BNXN and himself purportedly taken during the production of a song video.
Ruger captioned the image, writing, “MAYBE ROMEO MUST DIE.”
Since then, happy followers have responded to the tweet, expressing their amazement that the couple has made up after nearly two years of animosity.
Notably, in 2022, Ruger and an anonymous X user got into an online argument over the latter’s claim to have more successful songs than the former.

After departing from Jonzing World Records, which is controlled by D’Prince, the younger brother of renowned music executive Don Jazzy, he made the criticism.
On February 6, 2023, Ruger announced his departure from Jonzing World on Instagram. He expressed his gratitude to D’Prince and Jonzing World, but he also stated that it was time for him to place a bet on himself.
In a recent freestyle named “Blownboy,” which was published under his own label, Blown Boy Entertainment, the singer said that he was now in charge and formally criticized godfatherism.
In the freestyle video that he uploaded to his YouTube website on Friday, he sang, “I denounce every loyalty to some godfather, this year I’m about me.”
After Ruger left the afrobeats phenomenon Jonzing World record label, he expressed gratitude to well-known blogger Tunde Ednut.
Ruger acknowledged that Tunde was the one who found him initially.
He said in his post: “I want to thank @mazitundeednut in particular for being the first person to discover me before giving me over to Prince, just because I’m free to talk now.” Godspeed, you who made the king.
Ruger disclosed to the public that Tunde Ednut had found him and then given him to D’Prince, who had signed him to the Jonzing World Record in 2021.
According to Ruger’s post, he wasn’t first allowed to communicate, but now that he’s separated from Jonzing World, he is allowed to do so.

Ruger, a well-known singer from Nigeria, announced his exit from the Jonzing World label on Instagram.
The vocalist said thanks to his manager, Dprince, for having faith in him and helping him go this far.
He expressed his willingness to make a big wager on himself this year and expressed regret about having to depart.
Ruger asked God to give him the strength to get through as he got ready to start his own record label, Blown Boyent.
“Thank you Jonzing world and dprince for believing in me and taking me this far,” he said in his own words. Wouldn’t have made it this far without you. Though it pains me to go, God has the final say. This year, I’m placing a significant wager on me. I am not sure.
Michael Adebayo Olayinka, the popular Nigerian singer, who is professionally known as Ruger has narrated how the followers of the late singer, Mohbad contributed to his death.
Mohbad, a former signee of the Marlian Record label owned by Naira Marley died on Tuesday September 12, 2023, in a controversial manner.
Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry were accused of having a hand in Mohbad’s sudden death after a series of documents and videos of the duo subjecting Mohbad to a relentless bullying for leaving the Record label surfaced on social media.
However, speaking in his latest interview with UK-based media personality, Adesope Olajide on ‘Afrobeats Podcast’, Ruger blamed fans for complicating issues for Mohbad before his death.
He accused the late singer’s fans of not supporting him when he parted ways with the record label.
“I don’t know whether the label was Mohbad’s problem or not. I just want you all to know that the label was not only his problem, but the fans were his problem too.
“Because as soon as he left the label, I don’t think people continued listening to him anymore. I feel like they were just attached to the fact that he was a Marlian,” he said.
