The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Ned Nwoko has made a shocking claim.

According to him, he never went after his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels for marriage.

Ned made the disclosure while reacting to the controversy and criticism trailing his 6-year marriage to Regina.

Recall that Regina had two weeks ago called out Ned Nwoko over alleged domestic violence, saying she was no longer interested in a marriage with him.

In response, Ned accused Regina of substance abuse, and insisted that the actress must go to the rehabilitation center.

The public exchange sparked controversy with many Nigerians including celebrities criticising Senator Ned for allegedly marrying Regina at 17-year-old, when she was still a minor. And called for his resignation from the Senate.

Addressing the controversy in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN by his Communication and Technical Action Team, the Senator also claimed that Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita brought her to him for marriage.

Denying marrying Regina at 17, Ned Nwoko, who noted that he never went after her for marriage, stated that he has witnesses that her mother brought her to him.

She made the revelation in a post she shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday morning.

This is against popular claims that she was forced into marriage at her early age.

The actress said her family including her mother kicked against her marriage with Ned.

The actress, who recently accused her husband of domestic violence, said she regretted falling in love with the 64-year-old lawmaker.

She begged Nigerians to stop raining insults on her mother, dismissing rumours that she married Ned out of greed.

She said, “For seven years my mum held me down. She tried but I’m the one that has a coconut head.

Nollywood actress Rita Daniels, mother of popular actress Regina Daniels, has attacked her daughter’s estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko in a video posted online.

She was seen lashing out at the Senator accusing him of orchestrating the arrest of her son, known as Sweezy.

The video was shared online via Sweezy’s Instagram Stories.

She could be seen visibly angry as she accused the lawmaker of betrayal.

Holding a phone in her hand and speaking passionately, she said: “You wanted someone with a high star to boost your fallen star. If you think you can bite the finger that fed you, you’ll go down. My daughter supported your senatorial election with $50,000. We are covering you up and making you feel like an Odogwu — you’re mad.”

In the same post, Sweezy captioned the video: “Dey stress my mama no be your fault. We all go mad. I’ve never seen where violence is used to make peace. Pride wan kill you. Bring your ego down and say sorry.”

Recall that tensions erupted between Rita Daniels’ family and Senator Nwoko after her son’s purported arrest, though details surrounding the cause of the arrest remain unclear.
