Go To Hell, You Didn’t Pay My School Fees – Nyesom Wike Hits Seyi Makinde

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for addressing him by his first name, “Wike.”

The FCT Minister said it’s a mark of disrespect for the Oyo Governor to have addressed him by his father’s name.

Wike stated this on Monday while fielding questions during his monthly media parley in Abuja.

Wike’s outburst followed claim by Makinde that Wike had promised to hold the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for President Bola Tinubu in 2027, a claim Wike denied.

Wike claimed that Makinde was not being truthful about what transpired during the alleged meeting and as well persons who were in attendance.

Wike said: “He didn’t mention former governor of Benue was in the meeting. He didn’t mention former governor of Abia. He didn’t mention former governor of Enugu.

“What was the purpose of that meeting? Who called for the meeting? Did the President call you for the meeting?

“We went and said, look, we want to see President. And the President said, okay, come to the house. We went to the house as usual. And we said, Sir, we are still available. We still work together.

“So what is the issue of saying that we had a meeting?

“To start with, Seyi you cannot, he does not have what it takes to tell me that. He does not. He knows.

“He has never called me Wike. And to hell with him. You heard him say $1 million. Did he pay my school fees? That’s a disrespect.

“That is my father’s name. He can’t do that. He has never done that. He doesn’t have what it takes. Forget he’s a governor.”

We Made You Oyo Governor Despite Your $1 Million – Wike Hits Back At Seyi Makinde (Video)

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he played a significant role in Seyi Makinde’s election as Governor of Oyo State in 2019.

Wike stated that Makinde became governor after he and some party leaders provided him with the PDP structure in Oyo State.

He made the disclosure during his end-of-the-year media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while reacting to Makinde’s claim of making $1 million when he was in law school.

Wike revealed that when he ran for the PDP’s presidential ticket, Makinde never contributed “N1000.”

He said: “I ran for the presidential primary of the PDP. I didn’t see Seyi use one thousand Naira in my primaries. I did not see it even once.

“Secondly, it’s only in Nigeria that I’ve seen someone awarded a job worth one million dollars, and nobody is talking about it.

“But he came to the man who didn’t have one million dollars to help him get structure. We said no, we will not give it to you. We gave it to Teslim. He went to SDP to run as governor and failed with his one million dollars.

“Then, before 2019, he came back. We said no, we are ready to give you structure. I was very grounded in politics, but I had no one million dollars with me.

“But the man who made one million dollars is going around looking for people to help him build a structure. It was when we gave him that structure that Seyi became governor in 2019.”

We Won’t Let Those We Accepted From Other Parties K!ll PDP – Wike Tells NEC

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has stated that he and other PDP founding members will not allow politicians who recently joined from other parties to “destroy” the party.

The minister also criticised a faction of the PDP for violating court judgments by conducting what he described as an “illegal convention,” insisting that the party must respect judicial processes if it intends to regain public confidence.

Wike spoke on Sunday during the 104th National Executive Committee, NEC meeting held at his official residence in Abuja. He accused the faction of disregarding two substantive judgments of the Federal High Court, which he said had ruled on the matter, yet they proceeded to hold their own convention and later approached a State High Court seeking recognition.

Wike said: “You went to a State High Court to sue INEC, asking that the convention must take place, and you got an ex-parte order to override judgments of the Federal High Court. How do you disobey two final judgments and still claim leadership?”

He further stated that the same group returned to another court, seeking validation after failing to comply with lawful rulings.

“You had the convention without obeying the court, and now you are back asking a Federal High Court to recognise you. If INEC already recognises you, what exactly are you going to court for?”
he asked.

The FCT Minister warned that such actions could jeopardise the future of the party, stressing that leaders must not allow selfish interests to destroy the political platform that has existed since 1998.

“We must not allow our party to die. Leadership requires commitment and honesty, not propaganda. If we don’t respect our own laws, how do we earn respect from Nigerians?”
Wike stated.

He called on party faithful to support lawful leadership and unite to rebuild the PDP in line with democratic principles and judicial integrity.

Meanwhile, the NEC of the PDP has been urged to constitute a Caretaker Committee to guide the party forward as the tenure of the current National Working Committee expires tomorrow.

Addressing the 104th meeting of the party, the BoT chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, emphasised that the transition plan aligns with the party constitution and is intended to ensure administrative continuity, unity, and stability across all party structures.

Ohuabunwa said the move is one of several measures designed to consolidate internal reforms, restore confidence among members, and strengthen compliance with the rule of law.

The BoT also highlighted the ongoing establishment of caretaker leadership in certain states and zones, such as Anambra and the South-East, where congresses could not be held earlier, describing these efforts as necessary to prevent leadership gaps and enhance party organisation.

Why Governor Diri’s Resignation From PDP Is Very Embarrassing – Wike

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has described the resignation of Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as very embarrassing.

Recall that Diri resigned from the PDP on October 15, but his next political move remains uncertain amid speculation that the Governor might join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Diri was chairing the PDP zoning committee for the elective national convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, when he quit the party.

Speaking during a media chat on Friday in Abuja, Wike said Diri’s decision to leave the PDP was disappointing.

He said, “It is very embarrassing. The governor was the chairman of the convention committee. Diri was the chairman of the zoning committee. Even though I knew from the beginning that they were all playing games.”

Meanwhile, sources have claimed that Governor Diri is set to join the APC.

According to Punch, Diri, who defected from the PDP, is delaying his planned defection to the ruling APC as internal negotiations among key party leaders, including former Governor Timipre Sylva and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Heineken Lokpobiri, continue over control of the party structure in the state.

The development has heightened political tension in Bayelsa, with the PDP insisting that Diri’s exit amounts to a betrayal of the mandate on which he was elected.

However, top APC chieftains have hinted that his defection to the ruling party may be formalised as early as next week.

Although no official date has been fixed, APC leaders confirmed that discussions with Diri were “well advanced,” dispelling speculations that opposition from party strongmen in Bayelsa, including Sylva and Lokpobiri, might frustrate the move.

2027: Jonathan Has Not Told Me He Wants To Run For President  —  Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that former President Goodluck Jonathan has not informed him of any intention to run in the 2027 presidential election.

Wike made the remark during a media parley with journalists in Abuja on Friday, while responding to questions about speculations that Jonathan was being pressured to return to the presidential race.

“You’re the one telling me here. Jonathan has never told me; he has never called me one day that, look, I’m being pressured to run, what’s your thinking? If he calls me and asks me, I will be able to tell him my mind and what I feel,”
Wike said.

He added, “I will not because you people put something on the pages of the newspapers — just like you said they flew me out of the country — then, I now assume it’s correct.”

On the emergence of former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), as the consensus candidate for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike distanced himself from the development, saying he knows nothing about it.

“I don’t know about Tanimu Turaki becoming chairman; maybe he becomes chairman for another faction — it’s not the PDP I know,”
he stated.

The PDP Northern stakeholders had recently endorsed Turaki as their consensus candidate ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Speaking further, Wike dismissed the upcoming convention as illegal, hinting that he would not attend.

“How do you want me to attend a convention that I know by law that there is no convention?”
he queried.

Meanwhile, former President Jonathan is reportedly under intense pressure to drop his speculated 2027 presidential ambition and support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Vanguard reports that the pressure is being spearheaded by influential Niger Delta figures, including ex-militant leader Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

Some of Jonathan’s kinsmen in the Niger Delta are also said to have urged him to shelve any plans to return to power and instead back Tinubu’s second-term bid.

I Take Bold Decisions, Heaven Won’t Fall – Wike Declares

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Thursday declared that he has the “political will” to take bold decisions as a leader.

Wike recalled taking a decision against the Nigeria Police Force, saying heaven did “not fall”.

Recounting how he stopped the police from constructing some buildings under high tension cable in Abuja, Wike said “heaven has been at rest” since he took the decision.

Wike spoke while delivering his keynote address at the 2025 Innovate Africa Conference in Abuja.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Reimagining Africa’s leadership and Investment’, Wike said it’s difficult for leaders to take very difficult decisions.

He said: “I have been confronted with leadership, when a leader cannot take decisions at challenging times, then that should not be leadership.

“But leadership has been provided by taking a decision and that made this money to be available from the federal to the states. What the states do with that money is not a concern of those that leadership is given to.

“For me, giving me the responsibility as the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, I have that political will without any apologies to anybody to make sure that Abuja competes with other cities of the world.

“I have taken the decision that so many people thought why would he do this? Can he stand this?

“Three days ago, I was informed that the police was constructing houses under the high tension and the Development Control went there to say you cannot do this.

“I will go there by myself and I will not allow it to happen and I went there and I saw the high tension and I said look, ‘we must say that under my leadership this will not be allowed.’

“And I told the Development Control, bring down the buildings, heaven will not fall, heaven will be at rest. And as I speak to you, heaven is at rest. That is leadership. It does not matter who is involved. It is leadership.

“People come to us, you know that things are wrong, what you are doing is wrong. It has nothing to do with the political party you belong to.”

I’m For Tinubu Till 2031, Not Running for Presidency in 2027 – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has revealed he has no plan to contest in the 2027 election.
Speaking on Friday, he denied report that a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is “pushing” him to run for the presidency in 2027.
Wike described the report as “another lie from idle minds who have nothing to contribute to the development of the country.”
A statement by his spokesman, Lere Olayinka, said “as far as Wike is concerned, it is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu till 2031”.
He said it was shameful that the “pull Wike down” elements could not reason beyond such kindergarten tactics, adding that it was clear that they need better brains to think for them.
According to the statement: “Report circulated by an online platform that is notorious for falsehood and blackmail that a meeting was held by some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to “push” the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to run for President in 2027, has been described as “another lie from idle minds who have nothing to contribute to the development of the country.

“Wike does not function in hiding. He does what he says, and says what he does.

“The Minister has made it clear where he stands as long as the 2027 Presidential election is concerned, he is with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Olayinka stated that the only meeting that took place on August 20, 2025, was that of PDP stakeholders from Southern part of Nigeria, and the purpose was the meeting scheduled for Lagos on August 21, 2025, by some elements to rubberstamp a decision to micro-zone party positions zoned to the South.
“Outcome of the meeting was made public via a press statement titled; ‘Re: Purported Meeting Of PDP Southern Zoning Consultative Summit,’ signed by State Party Chairmen of Imo, Abia, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah, Barr. Venatuis Ikem, Rt. Hon Aniekan Akpan and Aaron Chukwuemeka respectively, as well as the National Vice Chairman (South-East), Hon. Chidiebere Egwu Goodluck and Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon O. K. Chinda.

“Others who signed the press statement were Senators Igwe Nwagu, Mao Ohuabunwa, George Sekibo, Mike Ama Nnachi, former National Secretary, Rt. Hon. Onwe S. Onwe, Deputy National Legal Adviser, Barr. Okechukwu Osuoha, former Ebonyi State Legal Adviser, Barr. Mudi Erhenede and others.

“Obviously, the above names were picked from the press statement published in all major newspapers and aired on national television stations, to advance the latest mischief.

“We know their intention though. But unfortunately for them, and the platform they are using to propagate their idle plots, the person and character of the FCT Minister is known to everyone – he does not do anything in hiding.

“He has said it clearly that from now till 2031, it is on the mandate of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he will stand.

“To ensure the success of the President’s reelection, Wike will continue to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT by actualising the visions of the President for a federal capital city that can compete with other capital cities in the world in terms of infrastructural development.”

No FCT Judge Will Live In Rented Apartment by 2027 – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has given an assurance to judges in Abuja.
According to him, by the end of President Bola Tinubu’s first term, no judge of the FCT High Court will still be living in rented accommodation.
Wike made the statement on Monday, October 13, during the flag-off ceremony for the design and construction of official residences for the Heads of Courts in Abuja. He said the initiative reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of judicial officers.

“Before the end of Mr President’s first tenure, no judge of the FCT High Court will be living in a rented quarter,” Wike said. “I didn’t say Federal High Court, I didn’t say National Industrial Court — but judges of the FCT High Court.”
He explained that the housing project is included in the 2024 and 2025 FCT budgets, which have been approved by the National Assembly and signed by President Tinubu.
According to Wike, the president had made it clear from the outset that supporting the judiciary was a key priority of his administration. “Mr President told us that enhancing the welfare of judicial officers has been a major concern,” he said. “I told him the difference his government must make is to end the practice of judges living in rented houses.”
The minister stressed that judges face potential risks when residing in rented properties, given the sensitive and high-profile nature of many of their cases. “Sometimes you don’t even know your landlord or neighbours. These judges preside over serious matters, and you can never tell what might happen,” he warned.
Wike further revealed that the newly constructed residences will become personal property of the judges upon retirement. “As they retire, the properties become their own. That is the approval of Mr President,” he confirmed, adding that Certificates of Occupancy have already been issued in the names of the beneficiaries.

I’m A Golden Minister – Wike Boasts

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, referred to himself as a “golden minister.”

Wike said he was a governor when Rivers clocked 50 years and now he is a minister when the FCT will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year February.

The Minister disclosed this during the flagging off ceremony of the construction of Collector Road CN2 (Emmanuel I. Ogala Street) from Arterial N16 (Yemi Osinbajo way) to N20 (Wole Soyinka way) including road ILS 5 within Katampe District.

He noted that such a feat is an indication that God loves him, adding that nobody should be envious.

Wike said: “So please do all you can when Abuja would attain the golden age of 50 years, it’s done.

“Some of us have been very lucky. We are golden governors and now golden ministers, it’s not everybody that will be that lucky.

“Some of you were governors when your state was not up to 50 years, some were council chairmen when it did get up to that age but we became a governor when our state attained that golden jubilee and now we are minister when FCT will attain that golden jubilee. So you ask yourself, are we not so loved by God?

“Well you may sit on my seat but that does not mean you are loved specially like you are loved by God.”
