There was a fire outbreak at the Lagos home of popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Mercy Aigbe.

The fire, which caused extensive damage to property and valuables, left the actress heartbroken.

Popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Mercy Aigbe Adeoti could not hold back excitement after her cinematic movie, “Ada Omo Daddy” received 10 nominations in the 2024 Best of Nollywood Awards.

She expressed her gratitude and honour on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of the nominations and giving a shout-out to the talented cast and crew who made it possible.

Mercy wrote: “Super grateful and honoured to be recognized for TEN (10) award nominations @bon_awards for ADA OMO DADDY

“Director of the year, Best Actress, Best costume, Best Cinematography, Best Supporting Actress, Best Kiss, Best Sound, Best Social Message, Best Use of Food and Best Editing.

“Biggest shout out to the amazing cast and crew for making this possible. All My Love. M.A.A. This year!!! THINLINE is hitting Cinemas across the nation with a banger!! ANTICIPATE”.

Popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Mercy Aigbe Adeoti has opened up on how she almost left the movie industry over s3xual harassment.

The movie star, in a recent interview with ‘Your View’, a talk show on TVC, said a producer made passes at her after a movie audition despite earning the role for the upcoming film.

Mercy added that though she had other challenges in the industry, she made her way to the top through consistency.

She said, “I once met a producer in Surulere, and I expressed to him how much I would love to act. He told me he had an upcoming film, and invited me to his office for an audition. I passed three stages of the audition. After the last audition, I was given a minor role. I told him that was not the character I was auditioning for, and he replied that the director said he did not know me, and that was why he said I should be close to him (the producer).

“He had been making passes at me before then, but he did not come out clean to me until that day. He then stood up and tried to touch me. I was very upset, and I told him he could not do that to me, because I had earned the role.

That was a huge insult to my person, and I thought if that was what it took to be an actress, I did not want to be an actress anymore. I tore the script and eventually left. On my way home, I cried because I had left a well-paying job to join Nollywood, and I was already a single mother at the time.”

Popular Nigerian actress, Mercy Aigbe Adeoti could not hold back excitement after she received a distinguished award from the Muslim community.

Mercy, who had previously converted to Islam and adopted a name, Minnah, to cement her newfound faith; was recently honoured by the ABD Azeez Islamic Foundation.

The group bestowed on her the title of “Arowoshadinni” which loosely translates as the one whom God bestowed with wealth in service to Him.

Announcing the development in an Instagram post, the elated movie star implored people to include the same when addressing her forthwith.

She also expressed profound appreciation to the Islamic foundation for the great honour.

Captioning her post, the latest title holder wrote: “Let me Re-Introduce myself: Hajia Minnah Anulouwapo Mercy Adeoti (Arowoshadinni).

“So henceforth kindly add Arowoshadinni to my name.

“Big Thank you to ABD AZEEZ ISLAMIC FOUNDATION for this honour.”
