The Senegalese born American singer and songwriter spoke to channels Tv on the sidelines of the Expo 2020 in Dubai and he mentioned the famous P-square break-up that shook the Nigerian industry in 2016.
Akon described the duo as family and he said the band’s break up broke his heart.
He said;
“It broke my heart because we are family. These are brothers and they shared the same womb and I always felt money should not get in between them.
“It was being together that made them who they were. But sometimes you have differences [between people from the same] family and there are other aspects of it – there is pressure in the music business, there is a lot of pressure in relationships.”
The Okoye brothers have finally reconciled but nothing has been said on whether there will be a reunion or they will continue their careers individually.
P-Square featured Akon and former label signee May d on hit song Chop my money remix in 2012.
