A Nigerian man has shared why he rejected ₦50,000 appreciation gift after returning ₦2.2 million mistakenly credited to his Opay account.

According to the Facebook user, the individual reached out to him, appearing confused and stammering.
During the phone call with the individual, he burst into laughter.
However, he refunded the money and sent a receipt of the transaction to the individual, whose identity wasn’t disclosed.
Subsequently, he received ₦50,000 from the same individual, but refunded it, emphasizing that he didn’t want to be paid for doing the right thing.
In his now-viral Facebook post, he stated that kindness shouldn’t come with a price tag.
”The amount is a big percentage of my monthly salary but because I believe I don’t have to be paid for being kind, and of course for doing what I must do. He called and was appreciating me like I liberate him from going to hell”, The post reads.
