First Lady, Remi Tinubu Reveals What Her Focus Is For All Nigerians

Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, on Friday in Abuja said that her focus through her national project, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), is to make life better for all Nigerians, Vanguard reports.

The first lady said this during a courtesy visit by the Honourable Ministers’ Wives Forum led by its convener, Mrs Susan Lokpobiri, wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil).

The first lady further intimated the forum with a rundown of the aims and objectives of the initiative, a brief of all the activities it has carried out so far and planned programmes for the future.

She mentioned a few of these, including indigent student scholarships, a visit to Nanabery Orphanage, computer training, a proposed partnership with the United Nations, AUDA-NEPAD, UNICEF, and capacity-building training for wives of top government functionaries.

“In this Tinubu’s administration, we are all into it, hands are full and I expect you all to be available to assist in all the works we have to do for this country.

“The mission of RHI is a better life for all families, there is no family that will say that they don’t need a better life, A lot of people have been saying different things about the way the fuel subsidy removal affects them but we know those people who their shoes actually pinches.

“These are the people we want to reach out to and see how we can help families, this is the reason why the RHI is focusing on agriculture, education, health, economic empowerment and social investment.

“When we build lives, we are actually building a nation, because if every life is happy, they will be able to contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation and Nigeria has great prospects.’’

According to Mrs Tinubu, the RHI is partnering with other organisations to sponsor people in schools.

“I am more interested in lives than building huge houses.

“Another one that will interest you which everybody can participate in, for agricultural programme in RHI, we are planning that everyone should have a garden to grow food.

“Since President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency on food security, therefore, we are encouraging people to start planting in gardens and we are only going to pick one garden as the winner.

“Therefore, your garden should be able to produce food for you and your neighbour. The best garden will go home with prize money of N20 million for the winner,” she said.

Earlier, Lokpobiri hinted that the forum had come to congratulate the first family on the recent victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, which she described as “a well-deserved victory”.

She commended the first lady for supporting her husband in his quest to engage capable hands to constitute the present Federal Executive Council (FEC), for which their respective husbands are direct beneficiaries.

She pleaded with the first lady to embrace the forum as her own, on all ramifications.

“It is our desire to continue to participate through capacity utilisation and to contribute meaningfully to all programmes intended to be carried out by your Excellency.

“We are here to pledge our loyalty to you and to identify with RHI. We wish to emphasise that your cool, calm and noiseless disposition in handling state matters has greatly endeared you to us in this forum.

“We are proud of you,’’ she said.

BBNaijaAllStars: If I Were A Girl, I Would’ve Slapped Doyin Three Times And Leave This House – Pere

BBNaija Season 8 All-Stars housemate, Pere has said he would have slapped Doyin three times had he been a girl.
This followed the confrontation between the duo in which Doyin dared him to do his worst.
During a conversation with fellow housemates Cross and Kim Oprah, he said would have slapped Doyin and left the show.
This statement followed an earlier incident where Doyin allegedly called Pere a weakling during a conversation with Ceec and Mercy.
The conversation was exposed by Biggie’s in-house parrot right after the housemates returned from the arena.
The discussion among Ceec, Mercy, and Doyin primarily focused on the complex dynamics between Pere, Kim, and Cross.
Doyin’s alleged comment about Pere being a weakling deeply affected him, leading to an emotional breakdown.
Pere was visibly distraught when the parrot’s revelation caused chaos in the house.
During this emotional moment, Alex, Angel, Sholzy, and Venita came forward to provide comfort and support.
Hours later, in a separate conversation with Kim Oprah and Cross, Pere expressed his frustration and stated, “If I were a girl, I would’ve slapped Doyin three times and left this house. Because I’m a guy, there are certain things I can’t do.”
Kim Oprah: “I don’t know why they can’t let this matter rest since yesterday; it’s as if they put fire in their bum bum.”

BBNaija AllStars: Pere Confronts Doyin, Punches Wall As They Engage In A Heated Argument

There was drama in Big Brother Naija Allstars house after housemates, Pere and Doyin clashed this afternoon.
The duo got into a heated argument that left Pere punching the wall.
Pere and Doyin have been at loggerheads over claims that he told her and Ceec that Cross, his friend and buddy likes Kim and is getting close to her when Cross knows he (Pere) also likes her. Doyin also claimed that Pere said Cross had told him that he likes former BBNaija housemate, Nengi, so he was wondering why Cross is going after Kim.
Pere denied saying this to them and this got Doyin angry as she expected him to own up to what he supposedly said.
They had a clash this afternoon over the same issue as Doyin continued to call Pere a fake man and a liar to his face. In the heat of the argument, Pere walked up to Doyin and asked her to never refer to him as “fake.” Doyin, however, dared Pere to do his worst, and in anger, he punched the wall.
Ceec later confirmed Doyin’s claim but asked her to move on from it as she’s been going on about the matter since last night, after Biggie’s parrot spilled the conversation.

Do Something, Nigerians Are Suffering – CAN Begs Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has been asked to come to the aid of Nigerians who are suffering intensely due to removal of fuel subsidy.
The call was made by the Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 Northern states and the FCT, on Friday.
They lamented the harsh economic situation in the country following the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023.
The organisation declared that Nigerians are suffering due to the action subsidy, noting that life in the country today, “is becoming a living hell as prices of food, transportation and other essential commodities have gone up beyond the reach of the poor masses.”
Specifically, the Northern CAN called on President Bola Tinubu and governors of the 36 states of the federation to live up to the expectations of Nigerians, by ensuring that the economic and social problems bedeviling the country were addressed.
In his inaugural address on May, 29, President Tinubu declared an end to the era of subsidy payment, stating that the 2023 budget did not provide for fuel subsidy, making further payment unjustifiable.

However, the development, CAN said, has left Nigerians hungry as poverty has taken over the entire country and called on the president and governors to do something to ameliorate the sufferings of the masses.
These were contained in a communique signed by the  Northern CAN’s Public Relations Officer, Chaplain Gilbert Jechonia and released to Journalists in Kaduna on Friday.
The communique also called on Nigerians not to relent in their prayers for the unity and stability of the country regardless of the mass poverty and hunger in the land.
The 11-point-communique at the end of the three-day quarterly meeting presided over by the Chairman of the association, Rev. Yakubu Pam, partly read, “That the President and governors must run an all-inclusive government and ensure that development projects are distributed fairly to give every section of the country or state a sense of belonging.

“The meeting called on President Bola Tinubu to do everything humanly possible to address the issue of food crisis in the land.

“The free fall of the Naira to Dollar and other foreign currency is a threat that the government must address for the good of our economy.

“The meeting also commended the government for taking steps to cushion the effect of the removal of Petrol subsidy by way of providing palliative.

“However, it is our considered opinion that the provision of such palliatives is not a lasting solution to the hardship being faced by the masses.”

“There is mass poverty and hunger in the land, many Nigerians are barely struggling to make ends meet.

“Many businesses have collapsed as a result of the harsh economic situation in the country. Unemployment has pushed many young people into crime.

“The meeting called by President Bola Tinubu and governors of the 36 states of the federation to live up to the expectations of Nigerians, by ensuring that the economic and social problems bedevilling the country are addressed,” the association said.
Besides, the religious body also cautioned the Economic Community of West African States against the use of force in resolving the political impasse in the Republic of Benin, following a coup-de-tat.
On the security situation in the country, CAN commended the security agencies for fighting insurgency and banditry.
It noted, however, that it was not yet over as bandits continued to terrorise communities, especially in the north where “these criminals attack communities, killing and abducting people” on a daily basis.

“We call on the federal government not to relent in empowering and supporting security agencies to crush the criminals,” it added.
On the political crisis in Niger Republic, it called on the Economic Community of West African States to explore all diplomatic avenues in resolving the issues rather than use of force that might lead to war.

French Montana Donates 500 Canoes To Makoko Slum — Where He Shot Music Video

The Moroccan-born US-raised rapper, French Montana, has donated 500 canoes to the Makoko community in Lagos, Nigeria.

Makoko is a densely populated waterfront slum known for its stilted and floating structures situated along the Lagos lagoon.

Some weeks ago, Montana shot the music video for his song ‘Wish U Well’ featuring Swae Lee, the US rapper, and Lojay, the Nigerian singer, in Makoko.

The rapper, however, attracted a chorus of criticism from his Nigerian fans for choosing the slum location for his music video shoot.

In a recent statement, the Bronx-raised rapper said he will be donating 500 canoes to the community which served as the primary location for the music video.

He said that local craftsmen, in collaboration with SALXCO, Gamma, and Swae Lee, will construct approximately six boats weekly, with the goal of reaching 500 canoes by December.

He added that after witnessing community struggles, he was inspired “to get involved and to help impact change.”.

“I witnessed firsthand how water is both a lifeline and an obstacle in Makoko. These boats are essential tools transporting the residents of Makoko and goods and services,” the statement reads.

“As an immigrant from Morocco, giving back to communities in Africa, the place that raised me, is so important.

“When I was filming, I met local leaders who talked about the daily struggles and aspirations of the wider community. I was moved by their spirit and positivity, which inspired me to get involved and to help impact change.”

Montana has established a name for himself in the international music space with a number of awards and recognition to his credit.

Nollywood actress Toke Makinwa has claimed that men don’t like nice women.
She revealed that when women are overly nice, men take them for fools.
Makinwa stated this in the latest episode of her podcast, TokeMoments.
She said, “Men don’t like women that are nice…”
Her guest on the show, skit maker, Bukunmi Adeaga Ilori, Kiekie, rebuffed: “No, let me rephrase that. This is what I believe. For lack of a better word, I feel like when you know how to put a man to a nice use, then he is more functional. See, men like to be reminded what to do.

“We have a child, the baby will go to crèche. My husband knows that the baby needs go to crèche but he will forget and hurry into the car to go to work. I will now remind him and he will be like, ‘Ah! I forgot.’ It happened for about three weeks with me constantly reminding him to take her to school before that registered and became part of his routine.”
Toke Makinwa insisted that Kiekie’s husband picked correction probably because he is “easy”, arguing that most men are not like that.

PDP Gave Birth To All Other Parties In Nigeria Including APC – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that the party birthed all other political parties in Nigeria including the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former Vice President went ahead to charge members of the PDP to remain loyal to the party.

Atiku made the call on Thursday during a press conference to address the outcome of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in which his petition challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu was thrown out.

Atiku however said despite the outcome, he is still standing strong and party members also have no reason to despair.

“Let me finally give hope to some of the delusional or disappointed members of our party. I am one of the foundational members of this party, and I’m still strong.

“This party gave birth to any other party you can think of in this country today. Whether you are APC, or APM—whatever you call yourself—your mother is the PDP.

“What is most important for us is to make sure we remain loyal and faithful members of this historic party. This is the only party since the creation of Nigeria that is as old as it is today.

“We have a record to protect, promote, and foster. You may be fathers today, but you will always be proud of your grandfather, not to mention your great-grandfather. Why will you not want to be proud to be a member of the PDP? There’s absolutely no reason.

“I, therefore, want to urge our memes to remain loyal and dedicated and foster national unity and cohesion,” Atiku said.

BREAKING: RCCG Pastor Installed As Soun Of Ogbomoso

Prince Ghandi Afolabi Laoye, a former pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has been installed as the new Soun Of Ogbomoso by Kingmakers of the ancient town of Ogbomoso on Friday, September 8.

The Areago High Chief, Sobalaje Otolorin led the installation that took place in Abata.

Pastor Ghandi then proceeded into seclusion to commence traditional rites attached to the throne.

Meanwhile, some aggrieved family members approached the court to prevent the installation after the Oyo State Government announced Pastor Ghandi as the Oba-elect of Ogbomoso.

The Oyo state High Court in Ogbomoso had on Thursday restrained Governor Seyi Makinde, the Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters or anyone else from presenting any instrument of office in any form of ceremony or issuing certificate of installation to Olaoye until the final determination of the mandatory injunction already filed before the court.

Earlier, Chief Otolorin disclosed that the kingmakers were not aware of restraining order by any court.

He further proclaimed the new Oba as His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III.
