Wizkid continues to break records, and his smash track “Essence” has accomplished a first for African music.
With his collaboration with Tems, “Essence,” the Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and performer Ayodeji Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, has reached a new professional milestone. It is the first African song to set an unheard-of record in the US.
After selling over 3 million copies in the US alone, the hit song “Essence” is now officially the first and only African music to ever receive a 3X platinum certification from the RIAA. Big Wiz has demonstrated that with good music, the globe will always tune in, as seen by the records “Made In Lagos” and the smash song “Essence” have continued to shatter.
The singer’s effort, “More Love Less Ego,” aims to meet and exceed the standards set by the Popsi himself on his fourth studio album, “More Love Less Ego.”
Big Wiz deserves congratulations.
