I Still Can’t Tell My Exact Age — Obasanjo Opens Up

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria’s former President, has once again admitted that he does not know his exact age, saying he can only make guesses based on how old his classmates were.

He explained that several of his contemporaries from primary school are still alive, and none of them is younger than 90 years.

Obasanjo made this disclosure on Sunday while speaking at the Toyin Falola Interview Series titled “A Conversation with His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.”

The session was moderated by Professor Toyin Falola, with the participation of the Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Dr. Matthew Kukah, and former presidential candidate, Professor Kingsley Moghalu.

During the interview, the former president also spoke about the purpose behind establishing his presidential library, describing it as a tool for safeguarding national records and strengthening institutional memory. According to him, millions of documents have already been digitised.

He said, “We have digitalised over 3m materials. We still have about the same number, 3m to digitalise.

“The idea is when these materials are digitalised, people can have access to them. That is number one. As document preservation, we preserve the past, take note of the present and we want all these to inspire the future.”

Obasanjo further disclosed that several personal and historical records are preserved in the library, including his academic files and private correspondence.

He explained that the facility houses his primary and secondary school records, a letter he wrote to former military ruler, General Sani Abacha, after the death of his son, and another letter addressed to his wife during his imprisonment.

Despite the availability of these records, Obasanjo maintained that he still could not definitively state his age, but pointed to surviving classmates as possible references.

He said, “I don’t know my exact age but I could judge from those who were in school with me, I have given you an example of Olubara (Oba Jacob Olufemi Omolade, the Olubara of Ibara) who is still alive.

“I believe there are six of my classmates in secondary school that I know are still alive and none of them is less than 90 years of age. So I leave it to you to guess what my age could be.

“My school record card in primary school, I have been able to keep them and when I became President and I wanted to establish the library, they were available to be exhibited.

“My records in primary and secondary school and even the manuscripts of books that I have written, those that I wrote in prison and so on, even crops of maize that I planted when I was in prison, they are there and somehow I was able to keep them.

“Why the Presidential Library? I believe one of the things we don’t do too well in our society is that we don’t keep records too well, institutional memory is not what we do very well.”

How BBNaija Star, Queen Mercy Reacted After A Follower Accused Her Of Ruining Her Marriage

Drama erupted when a follower emotionally accused BBNaija star Queen Mercy of failing to protect her marriage, alleging that she was being labelled a prostitute in the US and described as someone who couldn’t stay with a man.

The follower wrote that they were “tired of defending her,” heartbroken over the end of her marriage, and now being mocked by people they had argued with in Queen’s defence.

A follower responded by addressing the commenter directly, asking them to stop kicking someone who is already down and reminding them that she’s going through a difficult moment.

She then explained that her last visit to the United States was back in 2017/2018 — long before fame — when she stayed briefly with her aunty in Houston before heading to Florida for a pageant. At the time, she was a regular pageant contestant with no visibility, so she questioned where exactly anyone in the US supposedly saw her to label her a prostitute.

Queen admitted her family would be upset that she responded publicly, but she felt the need to clarify the situation.

She said she’s been called all sorts of names since she left Big Brother Naija, and people keep acting like she committed a crime on the show. According to her, if another All Stars season ever comes up, she’s ready to return without fear.

Addressing claims that she posted online to spite her child’s father, Queen explained that she had never posted him before. When she shared her wedding pictures, she was simply excited—just like any bride would be. She insisted she never intended to “pepper” anyone.

On accusations that she isn’t ready for marriage because of the roles she plays in movies, Queen stated that she has featured in only a few films and has never acted deep kissing or overly romantic scenes. She challenged anyone who believes otherwise to bring proof.

She also said people drag her for dancing and twerking on TikTok, but dancing makes her genuinely happy, so she won’t stop.

Queen concluded by saying being a “good girl” never paid her.

I Have Never Dated Anyone Who Was Violent Towards Me — Nigerian Actress, Nkechi Blessing Says

Nkechi Blessing Sunday, the Nollywood actress, has voiced her annoyance at online strangers who keep pressuring her to get married.

The actress shared her experience during an interview on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where she opened up about her past, family background, and why she refuses to succumb to marriage pressure from the public.

Speaking about her upbringing, she said, “I have never dated anyone who has been violent toward me. I can say for a fact that my father used to hit my mum, but that didn’t make me feel like any man should hit me.”

She went on to recount a difficult relationship from younger years.

“Even though one of my exes when I was growing up used to beat me—his name is Valentine. My mum would lock him up at the police station. And when she did, I would go there and tell the police, ‘It’s because my mother wants me to leave him for another man, that’s why she locked him up,’ even though it wasn’t true.”

According to her, her mother always took a firm stance.

“The police would call my mum, and she would tell them, ‘Lock am join there.’ Before you know it, play-play, they would lock me too.”

She added that her mother was a strong-willed woman who believed no one should force marriage on her.

“Do you know who my mother was? I would stay in the cell for two days, and on the third day, she would come herself and ask them to release us. She would say, ‘Leave man.’ Before she died, she never pressured me to get married.”

Nkechi stressed that marriage pressure has never come from her family but from outsiders who have no connection to her.

“I didn’t come from that kind of family. It’s only these online people that are not related to me that will be telling me to go and marry. Like you’re my father or mother.”

How I Landed A Role In 2Baba’s ‘African Queen’ Music Video – Actress Yvonne Jegede Opens Up

Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has told the surprising story of how she landed a role in 2Baba’s iconic “African Queen” music video, saying the opportunity came when she least expected it.

In an interview with BellaNaija, Jegede recalled that she was on the set of Missing Angel when fate intervened.

“I was sitting beside Uncle Charles when his phone rang. Charles Nova turned to me and said Uzor, the director of African Queen, wanted to speak to me,” she said.

According to her, the call felt random and abrupt. “He said, ‘I want you to do a music video for me tomorrow.’ I was like, music video?” she recalled.

Jegede explained that she was initially uninterested, having previously appeared in videos where all she did was dance.

“I said me I don’t want to do a music video o,” she said, adding that the director pressed further, hinting that the project was the video for African Queen by 2Face (now 2Baba). “I sha said I don’t want,” she added.

It took a phone conversation with a friend later that evening to change her mind.

“Before I could even finish saying African Queen, my friend was already quivering on the other end of the phone,” she said.

He urged her repeatedly to grab the opportunity, emphasizing how much he loved the song — one she had not even heard at the time.

Motivated by his enthusiasm, Jegede called the director back around 9 p.m. “I told him, ‘Okay, I think I’ll do the video,’ and he gave me all the information,” she said.

That same night, she hurried to Surulere to prepare for the shoot.

“There was a studio and a salon. When I got to the salon, they already knew someone was coming to get a specific hairstyle. After they were done, I took a bike to the location,” she narrated.

The video shoot that followed would go on to mark the beginning of her career. Jegede has since grown into one of Nollywood’s recognized faces, but the actress says the journey truly began from that iconic moment.

“And that was the beginning of my career, with the African Queen video,” she said.

We Won’t Let Those We Accepted From Other Parties K!ll PDP – Wike Tells NEC

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has stated that he and other PDP founding members will not allow politicians who recently joined from other parties to “destroy” the party.

The minister also criticised a faction of the PDP for violating court judgments by conducting what he described as an “illegal convention,” insisting that the party must respect judicial processes if it intends to regain public confidence.

Wike spoke on Sunday during the 104th National Executive Committee, NEC meeting held at his official residence in Abuja. He accused the faction of disregarding two substantive judgments of the Federal High Court, which he said had ruled on the matter, yet they proceeded to hold their own convention and later approached a State High Court seeking recognition.

Wike said: “You went to a State High Court to sue INEC, asking that the convention must take place, and you got an ex-parte order to override judgments of the Federal High Court. How do you disobey two final judgments and still claim leadership?”

He further stated that the same group returned to another court, seeking validation after failing to comply with lawful rulings.

“You had the convention without obeying the court, and now you are back asking a Federal High Court to recognise you. If INEC already recognises you, what exactly are you going to court for?”
he asked.

The FCT Minister warned that such actions could jeopardise the future of the party, stressing that leaders must not allow selfish interests to destroy the political platform that has existed since 1998.

“We must not allow our party to die. Leadership requires commitment and honesty, not propaganda. If we don’t respect our own laws, how do we earn respect from Nigerians?”
Wike stated.

He called on party faithful to support lawful leadership and unite to rebuild the PDP in line with democratic principles and judicial integrity.

Meanwhile, the NEC of the PDP has been urged to constitute a Caretaker Committee to guide the party forward as the tenure of the current National Working Committee expires tomorrow.

Addressing the 104th meeting of the party, the BoT chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, emphasised that the transition plan aligns with the party constitution and is intended to ensure administrative continuity, unity, and stability across all party structures.

Ohuabunwa said the move is one of several measures designed to consolidate internal reforms, restore confidence among members, and strengthen compliance with the rule of law.

The BoT also highlighted the ongoing establishment of caretaker leadership in certain states and zones, such as Anambra and the South-East, where congresses could not be held earlier, describing these efforts as necessary to prevent leadership gaps and enhance party organisation.

LaLiga: Celta Vigo stun Real Madrid 2-0 to compound pressure on Alonso

Real Madrid suffered their second La Liga defeat of the campaign as Celta Vigo delivered a disciplined, high-impact performance to claim a stunning victory at the Bernabéu.

Los Blancos controlled much of the first half but lacked clear execution in the final third.

Jude Bellingham, Arda Güler and Vinícius Júnior all missed clear chances, with Güler’s close-range miss the most glaring.

The opening period was further soured by a suspected hamstring injury to Eder Militão, forcing his early withdrawal.

Swedberg breakthrough turns the tide

Celta punished Madrid’s wastefulness shortly after the interval. A sharp collective move ended with Bryan Zaragoza whipping in a precise cross, and Williot Swedberg produced a superb back-heeled finish to put the visitors ahead.

Just minutes later, Real Madrid’s task became even harder. Fran García, already booked for a foul on Sergio Carreira, lunged recklessly into Swedberg and was shown a second yellow card, reducing the hosts to ten men.

Late pressure falls flat as chaos ensues

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Madrid mounted sustained pressure in the final stages, but Celta’s defensive held firm.

Five minutes of stoppage time offered a lifeline, yet frustration boiled over instead.

Álvaro Carreras was dismissed for dissent before Swedberg capitalised again, rounding Thibaut Courtois to calmly slot home his second goal of the night.

Title race blow for Madrid

The defeat leaves Real Madrid four points behind Barcelona in the title race and intensifies criticsm on Xabi Alonso, whose side now face an even bigger challenge with Manchester City visiting the Bernabéu in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Serie A: Rasmus Hojlund brace hands Spalletti first defeat on dramatic Napoli return

Rasmus Hojlund delivered a match-winning brace as Napoli defeated Juventus 2-1, handing Luciano Spalletti his first loss as Bianconeri boss and spoiling his long-awaited return to the Stadio Maradona.

The encounter marked Spalletti’s first visit to Naples since his 2023 Scudetto triumph and his first managerial clash with Antonio Conte, adding extra weight to an already high-stakes Serie A fixture.

Injury troubles hit both camps

Both teams entered the match with extensive injury lists. Juventus were without Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Gatti following surgery, as well as Gleison Bremer, Daniele Rugani, and Arek Milik.

Kenan Yildiz led the line, with Weston McKennie pushed into a more advanced role.

Napoli were similarly depleted, missing Stanislav Lobotka, Billy Gilmour, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Miguel Gutierrez, Kevin De Bruyne, Alex Meret, and Romelu Lukaku, prompting Eljif Elmas to step into midfield.

Hojlund strikes early

Napoli started aggressively. After Scott McTominay glanced a header wide, David Neres once again carved open the Juventus defence, beating Juan Cabal and Teun Koopmeiners before cutting back for Hojlund to stab home from close range, his first goal in two months.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo came close to doubling the lead with a looping header that forced Michele Di Gregorio into an acrobatic save.

Juventus struggle to create

Spalletti’s side found chances hard to come by. Yildiz twice broke down the left to create openings, while McTominay’s set-piece threat continued as another header grazed the post on the stroke of halftime.

With Juventus posting an xG of just 0.04 in the opening period, Spalletti introduced Jonathan David after the break to spark the attack.

Yildiz equaliser against the run of play

Napoli remained dominant, with Hojlund forcing another save from Di Gregorio and tensions rising following Pierre Kalulu’s studs-up challenge on Matias Olivera.

But Juventus struck from nothing. Yildiz surged forward on the counter, exchanged a neat one-two with McKennie, and curled a precise finish across Vanja Milinkovic-Savic for Juve’s first shot on target, and the equaliser.

Hojlund restores the advantage

Napoli responded almost immediately. A David Neres cross caused chaos at the back post, where McKennie inadvertently cushioned the ball into Hojlund’s path.

The striker reacted quickly, heading in from close range to reclaim the lead.

Juventus chased a late equaliser, but Edon Zhegrova’s stoppage-time effort was straight at Milinkovic-Savic, confirming a valuable win for Conte’s men.

Spalletti’s run of four wins and three draws ends in the city that defined his legacy, while Napoli strengthened their early title credentials.

EPL: Salah blows hot with claims of ‘thrown under the bus’ at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah says he feels he has been “thrown under the bus” by Liverpool, adding that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot has collapsed.

The Egypt forward was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Leeds United, the third consecutive match he has started on the bench.

Breakdown in relationship with Slot

After the match, Salah delivered an unusually blunt interview, claiming he was being positioned to take the blame for Liverpool’s struggles.

“I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame,” Salah said.

“I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems someone doesn’t want me in the club.”

Salah added that the situation had become “unacceptable,” insisting that he had “earned” his position in the squad and felt unfairly treated.

Future at Liverpool uncertain

The 33-year-old, who signed a two-year contract extension in April, admitted he is unsure about his long-term future at Anfield as he prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations from 15 December.

Salah scored 29 Premier League goals last season as Liverpool won the title under Slot. However, he has struggled to reproduce that form, scoring only four league goals in 13 appearances this term.

Saudi interest growing

Salah remains a prime target for the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Hilal among the clubs tracking him. Liverpool are said to be “open-minded” about his future amid renewed interest from the region.

Slot explains decision to bench Salah

Slot defended his decision not to introduce Salah at Elland Road, saying the team needed to “control the game” when leading 3-2.

He acknowledged the interest around Salah’s benching but maintained that the forward remains a “top professional.”

Legendary status but a sour ending?

Salah is third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list with 250 goals in 420 appearances. Since joining from Roma in 2017, he has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.

He has also collected four Premier League Golden Boots, matching Thierry Henry’s record, and won last season’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

Salah rarely stops to speak in the mixed zone, making his latest remarks even more significant. “I’m very disappointed. I have done so much for this club,” he said on Saturday. “It seems to me that someone doesn’t want me in the club.”

Unless the situation changes quickly, Salah’s impending departure to AFCON may mark the beginning of the end.

The key question now is whether he returns in January as a Liverpool player, or whether the breakdown becomes permanent.

Messi inspires Inter Miami to first MLS Cup, adding another title to his glittering career

Lionel Messi delivered the all important quality Inter Miami needed, orchestrating a 3-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps to claim the club’s first-ever MLS Cup title and add another laurel to his storied career.

Messi punished Vancouver’s only major mistake of the night, seizing on an errant pass from Andrés Cubas before threading a world-class, defence-splitting ball to Rodrigo De Paul.

The midfielder finished calmly to put Miami 2-1 up, shifting the gear, and closing out a tense final at Chase Stadium.

Early breakthrough, Vancouver push back

Miami struck first inside 10 minutes. Messi slalomed between two defenders and released Tadeo Allende, whose cut-back was turned into the net by Edier Ocampo for an own goal.

The visitors regrouped and asserted control in the second half, with Emmanuel Sabbi tormenting Miami’s right flank and Ali Ahmed capitalising on a Rocco Rios-Novo error to level in the 60th minute.

With Vancouver dominating possession, it briefly appeared momentum had swung. Then Messi intervened with the match-defining assist to De Paul, restoring Miami’s advantage.

Allende breaks record, Miami close it out

Allende eventually sealed the win in extra time, firing home to break the postseason scoring record after another incisive pass from Messi.

The result capped a landmark night for Miami and served as a fitting farewell for Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, both retiring at season’s end.

Inter Miami, powered by Messi’s composure and vision, finally claim their place among MLS champions.
