Victor Osimhen, a football player from Nigeria, has created history.
After scoring three goals against Sassuolo, he has now matched the scoring record set by the late, great Argentina captain Diego Maradona at Napoli.
On Wednesday, February 28, Osimhen scored his second hat-trick in Serie A as Napoli defeated Sassuolo 6-1 on the road.
For the Italian league winners, the Super Eagles striker has now scored in his previous three games.
Additionally, he has increased his league campaign total to 11 goals in 15 games.
His 10 league goals came after his second goal against Sassuolo, which gave Napoli a 3-1 lead.
Osimhen is currently the third player in Napoli’s history to score ten goals or more in four different seasons.
Maradona accomplished that between 1984 and 1988, and Attila Sallustro did the same for the Partenopei between 1929/30 and 1932/33, if one goes all the way back to 1929.
