While saying no negative incident was recorded in the conduct of the UTME at the CBT centre, the minister, however, made a case for a temporary holding place for candidates waiting for the scheduled time of the exam.

“Everything is okay, have you seen any problem? Perhaps they should have a class for the holding room, I think that is the only improvement they will make here,” Adamu said.

Recall that the Board had on Tuesday released the results of candidates who had earlier taken part in the exam, which commenced on Tuesday, 25th April.

JAMB To Release 2023 UTME Results Tuesday

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has confirmed that it will release the results of candidates that sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Board on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

This was contained in the meeting minutes from the weekend emergency management meeting in Abuja.

The board stated that the delay in releasing results was due to the need to ensure that all necessary screenings were completed.

“The Board would be releasing the results of candidates, who have taken the examination so far on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2023. The Board had delayed the release to ensure that all necessary screening are concluded besides ensuring that the mean and standard deviation are reasonably obtained before releasing these results.

“As candidates check their results on Tuesday, 2nd May 2023, those who sat the examination but had challenges without being aware of such, would not see their results but would instead see their notification for rescheduled examination,” it said.

Similarly, the examination body noted that three categories of candidates who missed their exams had mop-ups rescheduled.

“All candidates, who could not sit the 2023 UTME within their scheduled time owing to no fault of theirs, would be rescheduled to take the examination on Saturday, 6th May 2023.

“Candidates under these categories are principally those who were verified at their centres but could not sit the examination; those who could not be biometrically verified, and those with mismatched data,”

“This has been largely achieved as the exercise recorded the lowest reported cases of infractions but with equally emerging challenges on account of human negligence which led to some candidates not being able to sit the examination on the first day. This notwithstanding, out of the 1,586,765 candidates that indicated an interest in sitting the examination, only 80,166 are now outstanding.

“On the first day of the 2023 UTME, a number of candidates in some centres could not sit the examination as well as in some centres in subsequent days due to diverse reasons. Though a reasonable number of them have been rescheduled and have taken the examination, some are yet to take their examination.

“As part of the decisions reached at the end of an emergency management meeting held on Sunday, 31st April 2023, the Board has fixed Saturday, 6th May 2023, for all categories of candidates who have not sat their examination, as listed below, to take their examination,” the board said.

The Statement Read;

“Following the announcement, candidates, who for technical reasons could not take the examination, are to print a new examination notification early tomorrow morning, Wednesday, 26th April, 2023, to know their new scheduled sessions.

JAMB Releases Results Of Rescheduled Mock-UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has released the results of over 84,000 candidates who sat for the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME mock examination yesterday.

The candidates wrote the rescheduled examination in 387 centres across the country.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, which announced this on Wednesday morning in a statement by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, said the exercise was successful.

The announcement came as JAMB vowed that the results of the main UTME would not be released piecemeal but holistically “as the entire results of the entire eight-day exercise would be collated before they would be released to candidates.”

Recall that JAMB had earlier conducted the mock examination on Thursday, March 30,2023. However, some candidates could not sit for the mock examination on account of some technical challenges.

Recall also that the mock examination was introduced by JAMB to test the preparedness of its facilities as well as give candidates the opportunity to have hands-on experience of the Computer-Based Test,CBT environment.

The statement said,”From the foregoing, it is clear that the Board would not shy away from taking much-needed steps aimed at transforming the conduct of public examinations in Nigeria. “

It further read:”With the successful conduct of the mock examination, it became crystal clear that all the  challenges encountered which had led to the rescheduled mock examination were necessary experiences that would serve to make the system even better as the Board has now consolidated the software and is ready to give Nigerians the best.

“Consequently, the results of the examination has since been released by the Board.

“However, the Board would like to stress that the prompt release of results for the mock examination would not be replicated during the upcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) scheduled to commence from  25th April, 2023.

“As such, the Board stated that for the main UTME, the results would not be released piecemeal but holistically as the entire results of the entire eight-day exercise would be collated before they would be released to candidates.

“It is to be noted that the Board embarked on the screening of results to ensure that any UTME results obtained by any candidate is not a product of infractions and other unwholesome practices. This measure ensures that the Board would not have to release any particular result and then recall same on account of established case of malpractice.

” In the same vein, assessing the entire results enables the Board to obtain the overall standard deviation and the mean of the performance of all the candidates who sat the examination.

“By doing this, the Board is able to aggregate the general performance of all candidates who sat the examination and factor same into the national education planning template.”

JAMB announces new date for 2023 UTME

A new date for the beginning of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) has been announced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol made the announcement in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.

According to the board, the UTME previously scheduled to commence on April 29, will now start on April 25, 2023. Additionally, the board has rescheduled its mock UTME to take place on April 18, 2023.

Statement on New Date for UTME

”It would be recalled that JAMB had earlier conducted its 2023 Mock-UTME on Thursday, March 30 in 725 centres across the country.

” However, the exercise ran into some technical hitches in some centres, thereby denying some candidates the opportunity to sit for the examination.

” The board’s mock examination was designed for the purpose of testing its preparedness and that of its partners for the UTME as well as give prospective candidates the opportunity to have hands-on experience of the CBT test environment.

”It is, therefore, in order to give those candidates, who were unable to sit for the examination owing to no fault of theirs, the opportunity to take the examination that the mock examination had been rescheduled to hold on Tuesday, April 18.”

According to Dr Fabian Benjamin, candidates who underwent screening for the examination but were unable to take it will now take the mock examination on April 18.

Benjamin also confirmed that the results of candidates who participated in the mock examination on March 30 have been released.

”By so doing, the board hopes that no citizen will be denied the opportunity of exercising their civic responsibilities.

” It should be noted that the board does not have the liberty of shifting forward its examination as other public examinations are billed to commence their exercises in the early part of May 2023.

“Yet another factor is the need to accommodate those institutions with stable academic calendar to resume as scheduled,” he added.
