Have you ever heard of the saying “it’s about who you know” the most common thing among successful people is the relationships they keep, people at the top now didn’t get there by working in a vacuum, they grew through the ranks by building relationships with people they trusted to work together to achieve a dream. They built a team.
Building relationships starts with engaging with people around you, in school, on the bus, at festivals, basically wherever you find yourself. You never can tell where you’ll find that one person that’ll introduce you to that team or a team of people that’ll introduce you to that one person that’ll bring the Big change.
‘Like-minded people will surely gravitate towards each other” look at your friends or the people you’re surrounded by, you’ll find common traits amidst one another. The truth is your friends shed on you. If you’re willing to pursue success in a particular career path (which I believe you should be) look at the people you’re surrounded with, are they gravitating towards that goal (note: not towards you but towards your goal). A musician should not always “hang out” with a footballer because they gravitate towards different goals (hope you understand my point).
To be the best at what you do, you should be surrounded by people who inspire you, motivate you and challenge you. These people ask you the most difficult of questions to get you to think and give you honest feedbacks even when negative.
Find people who are ready to win with you and win together. Disengage to engage.
The act of seeking out these set of people is referred to as networking…
