Social media celebrity and bureau de change business man Ismaila Mustapha popularly known as Mompha has instituted a #5million lawsuit against EFCC after he was re-arrested.
Mompha was re-arrested last Friday after he went to the EFCC office in Ikoyi Lagos to claim his 5 wristwatches,one Apple AirPod,one iPhone 8 mobile phone and a pair of sunglasses that was seized from him when he was arrested last year October.
Mompha who went to pick up his items after his lawyer requested that the items be returned to him was picked up barely before he left the EFCC premises and according to reports he was waylaid and taken into custody.
An EFCC spokesperson that confirmed the arrest Dele Oyewale said his re-arrest was connected to a fresh set of cyber fraud.
In a suit filed before the Federal High Court Lagos by his lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole (SAN) today August 18, Mompha pleaded with the court to mandate the EFCC to pay him N5m for what he termed his “unlawful re-arrest and detention.” He urged the court to declare that the continued seizure of the items violated his right to own property under Section 44 of the constitution.The court is yet to fix a date for the hearing of Mompha’s suit.
