A Magistrate Court in the Dederal Capital Territory ordered the reopening of the Jabi Lake Mall that hosted Naira Marley’s drive in concert which was closed down after Disobeying the lockdown rules.
The June 13ths drive in concert headlines by Naira Marley was held in the mall and has been condemned by people on social media after photos and videos of people at the concert disobeying the COVID-19 precautionary measures and importantly not observing the social distancing declared by the Government.
The mall will be unsealed after defense counsel representing owners of the mall filed an application according to Magistrate Idayat and the court has now granted them permission to unseal the mall and start business.
The magistrate stated that the mall will be opened back mainly because of over 100 employees and other tenants who are not co-offenders in the case.
“The order is also based on compassion, especially, in consideration of the economic losses that will be suffered by those affected, coupled with the impact of COVID-19 on the people.”
She ordered the management of the mall to publish an apology to the government in national dailies for violating the COVID-19 guidelines.
